Abstract
An induction heating system for heating a working area of an electrically conductive metallic workpiece includes a current loop arrangement and at least one AC (alternating current) current source supplying AC current to the current loop arrangement. The current loop arrangement provides at least one pair of current loops with a gap therebetween. The current loop arrangement is arranged to produce a superposed magnetic field having a pre-defined geometry in the electrically conductive metallic workpiece under the gap. The superposed magnetic field induces heating in the working area.
