Abstract

This model proposes a new arrangement applied to a mask holder that facilitates the manufacturing thereof and offers greater stability on the wrist or arm. It adds greater adaptability to the user's body, providing the additional function of an orthopaedic wristband. The present application relates to the use of rigid or resilient splints that extend lengthwise parallel to the axis of the arm, wrist, fist or forearm. The combination of the splints with elastic bands or cords increases stability on the wrist and arm while also offering orthopaedic protection. The structure using splints facilitates the manufacturing of the mask holder, making the parts less complex and more suitable for different wrist or arm sizes. The manufacturing methods include stamping, plastic injection moulding, and 3D printing.

Estado da técnica State of the art

[002] Patent BR 102021 0027568, owned by the holder, proposes a mask holder, a mask and a mask protection case designed for use together, allowing easy and safe storage of a respiratory mask, thereby reducing contamination rates through contact with respiratory masks, external objects and people.

[003] The technical problem solved by patent BR 102021 002756 8 arises in the following context. There are times when masks are not used, for example, while people are eating or brushing their teeth. When sanitary conditions allow, in some safe spaces, there may also be situations in which masks are not used. At these times, the user has no option to store the mask safely, holding it in their hands, under their chin, on their wrists by the strings or leaving it on furniture, favoring various contaminations. Many mask users may have lung problems and need to remove the mask frequently to avoid lack of air. Some contamination of users occurs when these viruses and microorganisms pass from the external surface to the internal surface of the mask, especially when they are stored. Another form of contamination is when the external face of the mask touches other objects, especially when it is stored, for example, in pockets, bags or in mask holders. Many users store the masks in plastic bags or containers, causing high contamination between the external and internal face of the mask. Within these envelopes or containers, there is movement of pathogens which, in a closed environment, increases the level of concentration of contaminants to be transmitted between the outer and inner face of the mask. In addition, all of these mask storage procedures are laborious, often leading to users not adhering to safety measures.

[004] The device proposed by patent BR 10 2021 002756 8 is a mask holder consisting of a cylindrical-shaped bracelet or wristband that wraps around and attaches to the user's wrist, with pins or hooks on its surface. A mask can be stored and removed easily and quickly by means of straps attached to its surface, or using its own fastening cords that rest on the ears or behind the head. These straps attach to these surface pins, allowing the respiratory mask to wrap around the bracelet and be stored safely and firmly. The patent allows masks to be stored quickly and ergonomically, making it easy to store and remove the mask from the mask holder.

[005] In order for the bracelet-shaped support solution to be more effective, the same patent BR 10 2021 002756 8 proposed an additional strap that is located in the middle of the filtering surface of the mask. This strap, when split and temporarily fixed to the mask holder, allows the mask to be folded in half and provides, through this same strap, a fixing point for it to be attached to the pins and hooks of the mask holder. When folded in half, this second solution allows the length of the stretched body of the mask to be halved, reducing space taken up and facilitating the process of fitting it onto the pins of the mask holder, in addition to allowing fewer turns around the wrist or arm to store the mask. The fact that it folds in half causes the mask to isolate the inner surface of the mask in the middle of this folding, creating a protective contact cover that isolates it from the possibly contaminated outer face of the mask. A limitation of patent BR 10 2021 002756 8 is that the cylindrical shape involves problems of adaptability to the user's arm, forearm or wrist. The wrist and arm of different users have different dimensions. The cylindrical shape that envelops the wrist or arm, if completely rigid, would require the production of different sizes for different users. On the other hand, the cylindrical shape that envelops the wrist or arm, if malleable, would end up suffering the pressure of the mask's elastics on its surface and passing this pressure to the skin of the arm. or the user's wrist. In addition, malleable or partially malleable materials are not stable on the user's arm or wrist because they change shape according to the action of external mechanical forces. For example, sports users, cyclists and motorcyclists are users who benefit greatly from this solution due to its practicality, as they suffer from a lot of body movement, which leads to the need for a lot of adaptability and stability of the device in relation to its relationship with the athlete's body. Also in this user profile, it is very common to use a wristband to prevent injuries to the muscles and tendons of the arm and wrist. This wristband is an orthopedic structure that provides rigidity to the wrist, protecting it from twisting and tendon rupture, often used by tennis players. However, since the wristband occupies the user's wrist, it prevents the use of the mask holder in the form of a bracelet. In addition, another problem faced is that the cylinder shape of the mask holder is a geometric shape that is difficult to produce in plastic injection molds, and molds are difficult to produce; and in manufacturing through 3D printers it is also a geometric shape that takes a lot of time and energy due to the wide movements of the injector nozzle. The cylindrical shape is also difficult to produce with other materials due to the complexity of the shape and, as mentioned, it would require different sizes for each type and size of wrist, which would require multiple molds and different production lines to supply the different anatomical types of each user.

Novidade e objetivo do modelo proposto Novelty and objective of the proposed model

[006] The new construction arrangement introduced in the mask holder, proposed by the present utility model, effectively resolves the limitations of the state of the art previously referred to.

[007] Rigid beams were introduced into the mask holder, parallel to the axis of the arm, forearm or wrist, one next to the other around the surface of the cylindrical mask holder, with these beams forming a protective skeleton against the action of the pressure of the mask on the surface of the mask holder in the form of a bracelet, wristband or shoulder pad.

[008] When storing the mask, it is placed on the surface of the mask holder perpendicular to the position of the beams so that these beams, being rigid, do not bend and do not transmit the mechanical force of the action of the mask's elastics directly to the surface of the skin, in addition to not suffering deformations that would compromise the stability of the mask holder on the skin. The force exerted by the mask elastics is distributed along these beams. The beams were designed to be arranged parallel and can be separated or placed next to each other, joined by a flexible strip or cord.

[009] The term “beam” will be used in this model to mean a rigid or resilient segment that extends longitudinally along the axis of the arm, forearm or wrist in general, but not necessarily with a length greater than the width.

Melhoria funcional do modelo proposto Functional improvement of the proposed model

[010] The model's arrangements allow rigidity and stability in order to avoid bending in the direction of the axis of the arm, forearm or wrist, while at the same time allowing bending in the flexible band or cord between the beams, around the arm, forearm or wrist, allowing adaptation to the different sizes of the arm, forearm or wrist for each user. Thus, a specific shape is not necessary for each user size.

[011] Another problem that this solution solves is through the introduction of elastic material in the flexible band or cord between each beam, allowing, in addition to greater adaptability to different diameters and shapes of arms, forearms and wrists, it also allows the mask holder to function as an orthopedic wristband that protects the wrists of athletes, especially tennis players, cyclists and motorcyclists.

[012] The use of elastic between these beams was also designed to solve the problem of adapting the mask holder to each wrist or arm size as it forms an elastic cylinder whose diameter is capable of adapting to different wrist or arm sizes.

[013] In the solution proposed by this model, semi-rigid or resilient beams are acceptable as long as they absorb the mechanical action of the mask's pressure under the surface of the wristband or bracelet. A beam is understood to be any element that has a length parallel to the axis of the arm, forearm or wrist.

Model Description [015] Figure 1 illustrates the mask holder, open at one of the points of the circumference. By joining the two ends (1), the cylindrical shape of the mask holder is formed again. The beam (2) or module (2) is illustrated in an elongated form whose major axis is located, when worn by the user, parallel to the axis of the arm, forearm or wrist. For the mask holder to be worn on the arm, forearm or wrist, the insertion of rigid or resilient beams (2) parallel to the line formed by the arm, forearm and wrist was designed, beams (2) arranged side by side and positioned on the walls (3) of the mask holder; said beams (2) fixed to the band (4) or cord connecting the beams (2) to each other, forming the side walls of the cylindrical mask holder, these beams (2) forming a protective skeleton from the action of the pressure of the mask on the surface of the mask holder, mask holder to be used or worn on the arm, forearm or wrist, in the form of a bracelet, wristband, wristband, armband or shoulder pad. The mask holder can be open or closed. It is closed when it forms a complete cylinder surrounding the wrist, arm or forearm. It is open when there is a cut or empty space on the surface of the side walls of the cylinder, forming a cylinder that is not complete, but still allows gripping when wrapping the wrist, arm or forearm. The mask, when stored, is deposited on the surface (3) of the mask holder perpendicular to the position of the beams (2) so that these beams, being rigid, do not bend and do not transmit the mechanical force of the action of the mask's elastics directly to the surface of the skin. The beams (2) were designed to be arranged parallel and can be separated or placed next to each other, joined by a flexible band or cord (4). Both arrangements provide rigidity and stability in order to avoid bending along the beam (2) in the direction of the axis of the arm, forearm or wrist, while at the same time allowing bending in the band (4) between the beams (2), around the arm, forearm or wrist, allowing adaptation to the different sizes of these for each user. In this way, a specific shape and size is not necessary for each type and size of user, avoiding the need to produce several models of different sizes. Another problem that this solution solves is by introducing elastic material in the band (4) between each beam, allowing, in addition to greater adaptability to the different diameters and shapes of arms, forearms and wrists, it also allows the mask holder to function as an orthopedic wristband that protects the fist of athletes, especially tennis players, cyclists and motorcyclists.

[016] According to figure 2, the top or bottom view of the mask holder is illustrated, showing the circumference surrounding the wrist or arm. The mask holder is illustrated with a band (4) and beams (2) made of rigid or resilient material. The beams (2) are illustrated in their thickness from the top or bottom view. Flexible bands (4) connect these beams (2) and allow these bands to be folded between the beams (2), enabling greater adaptability to different types of arms, forearms or wrists. Elastic material inserted in the band (4) allows a firmer fit to the arm, forearm or wrist, in addition to allowing protection of muscles, ligaments and tendons, functioning as an orthopedic wristband that ensures safety when gripping a tennis racket, bicycle or motorcycle handlebars or in activities involving the use of force, preventing tendon or ligament rupture (mainly in the wrist).

[017] Figure 3 illustrates the cylindrical mask holder that surrounds the wrist, but is open at one point of the band (4) and arranged in a linear fashion. The figure illustrates the beam (2) with a rounded shape in the view described.

[018] Figure 4 shows the side profile of one of the beams (2). Holes (21) were designed and introduced into the side face of the beams. A hole (21) was designed through which a strip or cord (4) can pass in order to secure the beam (2). This facilitates the fixing of the beam (2) to the strip (4) of the mask holder. This solution facilitates production since the connecting strip or cord (4) can remain intact, without discontinuity as it passes through the beams (2), and it can be produced separately. The strip (4), preferably formed by elastics, can be produced separately from the beams (2) and then joined together in the final production.

[019] The provisions below reveal optional or alternative configurations in relation to the main model revealed above that give the object the same functional improvement in its use and manufacture.

[020] Figure 5 illustrates the beam (2) in an optional flattened shape.

[021 ] Figure 6 shows the side view of the mask holder, but in an alternative form with irregularly shaped, non-rectangular beams (2).

[022] Figure 7 shows one of the beams or modules (2) in an alternative form. Holes (21) have been designed and inserted into the external surface of the beams (2). Holes (2) have been designed through which a strip (4) can pass through a hole (21 ) and exit through the other hole (21 ) in order to fix the beam (2).

[023] A figura 8 mostra uma forma alternativa da trave (2) com alças laterais[023] Figure 8 shows an alternative form of the beam (2) with side handles

(22) inserted laterally into the beams (2) or into the lower part of the beams (2). These loops have a connection with a strip (4) that can be attached to these loops (22) or run between them. Closed or open, flexible, non-flexible or resilient loops (22) have been designed. The coupling of open loops (22), i.e. with a loop fixed at one end but without continuity with the other end, has been designed to allow the beams (2) to be attached even after the strips (4) have been previously closed in the form of a cylinder. They have the advantage that the strips (4) do not have to be returned to the sewing production area, for example, to then have to close the ends of the strips (4) of the cylinder.

[024] Also according to figures 4, 7 and 8, these solutions facilitate the production of the mask holder, since the beam (2) and the band (4) can be produced separately and with less variation, using standardized formats that can be used for mask holders of different sizes, only having to vary the number of beams for each mask holder or vary the distance between each beam. Both the beam (2) and the band (4) have different production peculiarities, which can be produced separately and efficiently, even in different locations, to then be associated in the production line. For example, the beam (2) can be produced in a plastics factory and the band (4) in a sewing production line. It was also designed that these holes (21) or straps (22) facilitate the attachment of elastic bands (4), which serve to improve the adaptation of the mask holder to the arm, forearm or wrist of users of different sizes and also to introduce an orthopedic wristband.

[025] Figures 9 to 11 show side profiles of one of the beams (2). In these figures, one of the ends (1) is close to the hand and the other end is far from the hand. [026] Figure 9 shows an external protrusion (23), distal to the skin surface, at the ends of the beams (2). It was designed to prevent the mask from slipping out of the ends of the mask holder when the mask is stored in the mask holder.

[027] Figure 10 shows an external pin (24) fixed to the surface of the beam (2), a pin (24) that may have a head or hooks (241) to which the masks are attached when stored in the mask holder. The position of the pin (24) may vary to each beam (2).

[028] Figure 11 shows an alternative arrangement of the external pin (24) fixed to the surface of the beam (2) that were designed to direct the position in which the mask is stored in the mask holder. The position of the pin (24) may vary for each beam (2).

[029] Figure 12 shows the mask holder in an alternative shape with a wider central beam (2) designed to receive the pins (24), with heads or hooks (241), which has a greater width to avoid bending, as they receive lateral traction force from the mask straps, and a bottle (25) with an outlet nozzle (251) inserted in a band (4) or cord wrapping the wrist or arm with the body of the bottle (25) acting as a beam (2) to stabilize the mask holder on the wrist or arm and be able to receive the mask. Identifying that one of the hygiene measures to defend against infections, especially covid, is the use of alcohol gel, it was designed to insert bottles (25) containing this substance or another disinfectant to have disinfectant liquid available when it is necessary to perform hand antisepsis. The solution conceived was to insert a liquid containment bottle (25), illustrated, with its liquid outlet nozzle (251), fixed to the bands (4) or cords (4) next to the beams (2) so that this bottle uses its walls to provide rigidity to receive the pressure of the mask to be stored in the mask holder so as to also form part of the body of the mask holder and, as it remains in place and functions as a beam (2), it ends up taking up little space.

[030] Figure 13 shows an optional form of mask holder with wider beams (2) shaped to adapt to the wrist. The beams (2) are designed in the form of a plate, with a surface parallel to the surface of the skin, whose edges extend in extension towards the arm, forearm or wrist. The beams (2) in the form of a plate are interconnected by bands (4) that delimit the circumference of the wrist, forearm or arm. These beams (2) in the form of plates were designed to allow greater stability on the surface of the wrist or arm while also allowing it to be produced in a module in order to adapt to any type of wrist or arm size. The mask holder has a loop (5) with a hole in the middle that surrounds one of the fingers, especially the thumb, to prevent the mask holder from rotating around the wrist, wrist or forearm. The loop (5) can be an extension or a extension of the mask holder body, which can be flexible or rigid.

[031] Figure 14 shows the mask holder made up of beams (2) arranged at different heights, each beam having upper and lower holes. A cord (44) passes through the upper hole of a beam (2) and then through another lower hole of another beam (2). Using this structure, other beams (2) and cords (44) interconnect successively forming a cylindrical grid that makes up the wall of the mask holder, offering mechanical resistance and resilience of the cylinder in order to resist bending under the pressure of the mask cords when it is attached to the mask holder. It has the advantage of producing a highly stable quadrilateral profile with little material, maintaining the rigidity and resilience of the beams (2) and the ability to bend around the arm, forearm or wrist.

[032] Figure 15 illustrates one of the beams (2), with a widened surface in the form of a plate (26), preferably metallic, with holes (261 and 262). The hole (262) in the shape of a “U” which delimits a pin (263) in the shape of a tongue, when bent externally, forms a hook. Pin (263) to which the straps of the mask will be fixed when stored in the mask holder. Straps (4) that enter externally and superiorly through the hole (261), pass under the beam (2), and exit through the other hole (262). Strap that then enters another hole (262) superiorly, passes under the beam (2) and exits from below to above another hole (261). Or straps (4) that enter externally and superiorly through the hole (261), pass under the beam (2), and exit through the other hole (261). These holes (261 or 262) accept various band passage combinations (4).

[033] The bands (4) surround the wrist or arm, forming the walls of the mask holder. The pins (263) are symmetrical, but opposite so that the mask straps can hook together when going around the wrist or arm. This arrangement allows for material savings and easy production, requiring only holes (261 and 262) in the plate (26) of the beam (2) and subsequent bending of the pin (263). One of the preferred production processes designed for better manufacturing is the cutting and bending process. Production method preferably designed for metal sheets.

[034] Figure 16 illustrates an alternative mask holder with beams (2) that connect to strips (4) or cords, configured as a solid, rigid or resilient frame (28). The frame shape provides stability to the beam (2), lightness of structure and material economy. It can be produced with metal, plastic, wood or other material. This frame can have more internal rods (281) parallel to the external rods (282) of the beam (2) in order to facilitate the fixing of the strip (4) through the entry and exit passage of the strip (4) winding through the parallel beams.

[035] Figure 17 illustrates an optional mask holder with beams (2) formed by metal wire (29) with bending at the ends (291) to prevent these ends from hurting the user. This is a lighter and cheaper product, in addition to a more efficient production method, since it is sufficient to use the production of cutting metal wire (29) and then bending its ends (291).

[036] Figure 18 illustrates another arrangement of the metal wire (29) in figure 17 in a “U” shape, further saving the process of cutting the metal wire (29), requiring only one cut to produce two beams (2).

[037] Figure 19 illustrates another arrangement of the metal wire (29) with the two ends (291) joining together to form a quadrilateral shape that gives more stability to the assembly.

[038] A fig. [038] Fig. 20 illustrates a metal wire (29) in the form of a serpentine that wraps around the wrist or arm, with the lateral connections (292) acting as bands or cords (4) connecting the beams (2). It is intended that these ends of the connection (292) have an additional bend, forming an external projection in the direction of distancing from the user's skin in order to define a bed for accommodating the mask in the mask holder. It is intended that this structure may be covered with a surface of fabric or flexible plastic. Although the preferred shape of the beam (2) is metal, other materials, such as plastic, may be used.

[039] Figure 21 illustrates the bending of the metal wire (29) forming a pin with a head (293) or hook, corresponding to the pin (24) that holds the mask in the mask holder. So that the production of these pins (24 and 293) are produced only by bending the material.

[040] Figure 22 illustrates a beam (2) in the form of a plate (30) containing slots (301, 302 and 303) which play the same role as the holes (21) of the beams (2) already described previously. These slots (301, 302 and 303) have openings (3011, 3021 and 3031) to the external environment so that beam connection strips (4) (2) can enter. Three types of slots are illustrated. For the purpose of The illustrations are shown in the same beam body (2), but the beam (2) may have only one slit or a combination of them. The upper slit (301) is the simplest, having only one opening (3011) with the external environment. The middle slit (302) and lower slit (303) have opening constriction (3021 and 3031) to hold the strip inside the beam (2) with an external slope ramp that facilitates the entry of the strip (4). One of the slits (302) has a lock (3022) more internally at a right angle to make it difficult for the strip (4) to exit the beam (2). The use of slits was designed to facilitate the production of the mask holder because the strips (4) may already be assembled to form a complete cylinder, with no tip for the passage of beams (2). The use of slots (301, 302 or 303) is designed to allow the beams (2) to be fixed even after the strips (4) have been previously closed in the form of a cylinder. They have the advantage that the strips (4) do not have to be returned to the sewing production area, for example, to then have to close the ends of the strips (4) of the cylinder.

[041] Figure 23 illustrates the top or bottom view of the mask holder, showing the circumference surrounding the wrist or arm, a base view of beams (2) formed by two parallel bands (28) that surround the wrist or arm, forming the cylindrical wall of the bracelet or bangle that surrounds the wrist, forearm or arm, constituting the walls of the mask holder. They form the protective surface that prevents skin contact with the mask. Inside, between these bands (28), are the beams (2) that form the skeleton of the mask holder, beams (2) that give rigidity and mechanical stability to the mask holder, preventing the pressure of the mask cords, when stored, from pressing directly on the user's skin. Function similar to the solutions in the previous figures, with the difference that these bands (28) replace the connection bands (4), with these new bands (28) surrounding the beams (2) instead of the bands (4) that are inserted into holes (21). A preferred form, indicated by the drawing, shows the union and fixation (29) between these parallel strips in order to form segments that surround and fix the beams, fixing the beams in a larger cylindrical structure. Other mechanisms can be used to better fix these beams (2) inside these coverings (28), such as the use of glue, sewing, tying, straps, holes, slits, claws or clips. The beams (2) can be replaced by plates (2) described in figure 13. [042] This proposal for producing the final product, mask holder, with beams (2) makes production easier, especially because production with beams (2) makes it easier for stamping, plastic injection or printing on 3D printers. In plastic injection, it is easier and more efficient to produce parts with less complex molds. For 3D printing, simpler models are faster to produce because the injector nozzle has to make fewer movements. Furthermore, for 3D printers, if the part were produced in its entirety and not with beams (2), the empty space in the center of the cylinder would force the injector nozzle to travel through large empty spaces without injecting plastic, which wastes time and energy to produce the same final product.

[043] According to any of the figures, it has been conceived that a surface of material, preferably impermeable, can be superimposed, adhered or glued on or below the beams (2) in order to isolate the skin of the user from the mask, and can be extensible, inextensible or elastic. Another surface can externally cover the beams (2) so as to cover the mask and can have one of the ends fixed to the ends of the beams (2) of the mask holder.

[044] Other ways of fixing the beams (2) to the strips (4) or cords can be by glue, claws, clips, sewing, tying or pressing.
