Description

GIFT CHALLENGE ACCOMPANIMENT FOR DISCOVERING THE IDENTITY OF THE SENDER
RELATED APPLICATIONS
This application claims priority from US provisional application No: 63/307,646 filed on February 8, 2022, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference.
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a computer application for identifying a gift provider and more specifically, wherein the computer application provides a challenge that reveals the gift providers identity when solving the challenge.
BACKGROUND
Many people award gifts to friends and relatives. Typically, the gift is accompanied with a greeting card disclosing the identity of the person providing the gift. The gift may also be purchased online and be accompanied with a personal message from the provider so that the recipient will know who sent the gift.
At social gatherings, for example at a birthday party more excitement may be achieved by having the recipient open gifts and guess who gave the gift. Possibly the participants can provide hints and help the recipient to identify the person who gave the gift. Especially the persons who gave the gift can make sure that the recipient is able to identify them.
When receiving a gift by a messenger or a gift purchased online and sent to the recipient, the additional excitement is forfeited since it would generally not be reasonably possible to rely on the recipient guessing who sent the gift from the gift alone. SUMMARY
An aspect of an embodiment of the disclosure relates to a system and method for identifying a gift provider by a recipient of the gift. The system includes a server computer that executes an application, which enables the gift provider to access the server and prepare a challenge (e.g. a quiz, a riddle, a puzzle) having a solution that identifies the identity of the gift provider. The challenge is stored on the server and a link to the challenge is provided to the recipient. The recipient uses the link to access the challenge and determine the identity of the gift provider.
The storage location of the challenge may be predetermined and dictated for example by a link provided on a preprinted card used by the gift provider to create the challenge and then provided to the recipient with the gift. Alternatively, the link may be determined by the server and then provided to the recipient, for example in the form of a printed card to be delivered with the gift or in other forms.
There is thus provided according to an embodiment of the disclosure, a system for identifying a gift provider by a recipient of the gift, comprising:
A server computer accessible over a network by the gift provider and the recipient;

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Fig. 1 is a schematic illustration of a system 100 configured to challenge a gift recipient 102 to identify a gift provider 101, according to an embodiment of the disclosure. In an embodiment of the disclosure, a gift provider 101 may use a computerized device 120, for example a workstation 122, a smartphone 123, a tablet 124 or other type of computerized device for accessing an application 115 (e.g., a program or group of programs) on a computerized server 110 over a network 130. Optionally, the application 115 is configured to enable a gift provider 101 to configure a personalized challenge 165 having a solution that identifies the gift provider 101. Application 115 may include a user interface to communicate with the gift provider 101 and the gift recipient 102. For example, application 115 may include a web site 162 that hosts the challenge 165 and serves as the user interface. Web site 162 is an exemplary method to provide the gift provider 101 and gift recipient 102 easy access to the challenge 165.
In some embodiments of the disclosure, server 110 may be provided as a virtual server in a server farm or in a cloud storage 160 on network 130. In an embodiment of the disclosure, the gift provider 101 is provided with a link to the challenge 165, which can be provided to the gift recipient 102 to solve. Optionally, the link may be shipped from server 110 to the gift provider as a card 145 or as a printable file, which can be printed by the gift provider 101 to form a card 145 to attach to a gift 140 and form a package 146. Optionally, part or all of the challenge 165 may be printed on the card 145. The gift provider 101 can then ship the package 146 to the gift recipient 102 by a delivery service 147. In an embodiment of the disclosure, the link may be represented, by a unique code 150 on the card 145 that is attached to the gift 140. The code 150 may be for example a quick response (QR) code, a bar code, a partial or full URL, a number, or other type of unique and readable code.
In some embodiments of the disclosure, the gift provider 101 may purchase a preconfigured card 145, which includes a link to a predefined web site 162 and the gift provider 101 configures the challenge 165 at the predefined web site 162 before sending the card to the gift recipient 102 with the gift 140.
In some embodiments of the disclosure, the server 110 may also provide an electronic commerce application that sells various items, for example like Amazon® or eBay®. In an embodiment of the disclosure, the gift provider 101 may define a challenge 165 with application 115 on the server 110, then purchase an item as a gift 140. The gift 140 and card 145 are shipped together anonymously from server 110 to the gift recipient 102. The card 145 provides a link to challenge 165 defined by the gift provider 101, which will disclose the identity of the gift provider 101 when the gift recipient 102 solves the challenge 165.
Upon receiving the package 146 including the gift 140 and card 145, the gift recipient 102 can use the code 150 to access the challenge 165 with a computerized device 125 (e.g., a workstation 122, a smartphone 123 or a tablet 124). The code 150 and relevant instructions printed on the card 145 will lead the gift recipient 102 to the web site 162 with the challenge 165 that was prepared by the gift provider 101. When the gift recipient 102 solves the challenge 165, he or she will be provided with the identity of the gift provider 101. Optionally, the identity of the gift provider is accompanied with a greeting message or a victory page 450 (e.g., Fig. 4F) displaying text, images, audio, and/or a video previously uploaded or designed by the gift provider 101. Optionally, the challenge 165 is provided in the form of a puzzle, quiz or riddle generally based on information related to the gift recipient 102 to increase the likelihood that the gift recipient 102 will be able to solve the challenge 165. Alternatively, the challenge 165 may be based on general knowledge, or knowledge related to areas of interest, organization(s) of affiliation, and the like of gift recipient 102. In some embodiments of the disclosure, the challenge web site 162 may provide hints, enable sending and receiving messages (e.g., email, SMS) from/to the gift provider 101 or allow the gift recipient 102 to request to be contacted by the gift provider 101 if the gift recipient 102 has trouble or is unable to solve the challenge 165. Fig. 2 is a flow diagram of a process 200 of preparing the challenge, according to an embodiment of the disclosure. In an embodiment of the disclosure, the gift provider 101 purchases the card 145. Optionally, the purchase may be by accessing (205) server 110 and purchasing a link to a personal challenge 165 that is hosted by web site 162. Alternatively, the gift provider 101 may purchase (210) a pre-configured card 145 (e.g., physical card) with a code 150 printed thereon leading to a personal challenge 165. Once the gift provider 101 purchases the rights to a personal challenge 165 the gift provider 101 accesses (215) the challenge, for example by scanning the code 150 with computing device 120 or accessing web site 162 with a link provided by server 110.
At the web site 162 the gift provider 101 provides (220) personal information, for example name, telephone number and email address. The gift provider 101 then selects (225) a type of challenge as described below, for example a type of riddle, puzzle or, quiz that the gift recipient 102 will need to correctly solve to be provided with the information of the gift provider 101 that purchased the challenge 165. In an embodiment of the disclosure, the gift provider 101 then provides (230) information for preparing the challenge 165, for example names of the family members of the gift recipient 102, pictures of the family and friends of the gift recipient 102, general questions and answers or other information depending on the type of challenge selected. The gift provider 101 may select questions from a library provided with the system. Optionally, the gift provider 101 prepares (235) a greeting for the gift recipient 102, which will be displayed once the gift recipient 102 solves the challenge 165. Additionally, the gift provider 101 can prepare a victory page that is displayed for the gift recipient 102 acknowledging that he or she succeeded to meet the challenge 165. Optionally, the victory page may include a picture, a video clip, an audio clip and/or text message provided by the gift provider 101 or selected from pre-defined victory pages stored on server 110. For example, the victory page may show fireworks, shooting stars, or rising balloons and a message such as “congratulations you have met the challenge! ! !”. Optionally, once the challenge 165 is prepared it is locked for changes, and when the gift recipient 102 accesses the web site 162 it will be in a solving state. In some embodiments of the disclosure, the gift provider 101 can log in to make corrections before the gift recipient 102 accesses the web site 162 to solve the challenge 165.
Once the gift provider 101 finishes defining the challenge 165, the card 145 providing the information to access the personal challenge 165 is sent to the gift recipient 102. If the gift provider 101 is also purchasing the gift 140 online, the server 110 may send (240) the gift 140 with the card 145 together as package 146 to the gift recipient 102. If the gift 140 is sent directly by the gift provider 101 then the gift provider 101 receives (245) the card info and prepares the card 145 locally, for example by making a hardcopy of the information with a printer. If the card 145 was bought as a pre-configured card 145 then the gift provider 101 attaches (250) the card to the gift 140 and sends it to the gift recipient 102.
Fig. 3 is a flow diagram of a process 300 of identifying a gift provider
101, according to an embodiment of the disclosure. In an embodiment of the disclosure, the gift recipient 102 receives (305) the gift 140 with the card 145. The gift recipient 102 uses (310) the code 150 received with the card 145 as an input for a computerized device 125, in order to view and solve the challenge 165. The gift recipient 102 then solves (315) the challenge 165 to determine who sent the gift 140. After solving the challenge 165 the gift recipient 102 is able to view (320) the greeting from the gift provider 101 and the victory page. In some embodiments of the disclosure, the gift recipient 102 can respond (325) with a thank you message that is transmitted to the gift provider 101 by email, SMS, or other communication methods. Optionally, if the gift recipient 102 is unable to solve the challenge 165, the gift recipient 102 can transmit a message to the gift provider 101 who can then contact them directly or provide (330) a hint, which is received by the gift recipient
102. Alternatively or additionally, the challenge 165 may be programmed to automatically provide (330) one or more hints, without intervention of the gift provider 101, until the gift recipient 102 solves the challenge 165.
In some embodiments of the disclosure, the card 145 may be provided in the form of a foldable box configured to enclose the gift 140 with the code 150 printed on the outside walls of the box. Alternatively, the card 145 may be provided as wrapping paper configured to wrap the gift 140, with the code 150 visible to the gift recipient 102.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, challenge 165 is based on information of the gift recipient 102, which is provided by the gift provider 101. For example, the information may include: family members and details of the family members, e.g., creating a family tree showing the connection between the members, names and gender of each member, birthday of each member, telephone number of each member, vehicles owned by each member (e.g., license plate number and type of vehicle), pets of family members (e.g., name and species). The information may also include graphical images of the gift recipient 102 or other family members.
Optionally, the challenge may include associating each family member with a specific numeric value, color or geometric shape. Alternatively, or additionally, the challenge 165 may show the gift recipient 102 partial information related to the family and require that the gift recipient 102 fill in missing details. Optionally, the missing details are used to generate a URL address that upon access, provides instructions to finish the challenge. In some embodiments of the disclosure, the challenge 165 may require that the gift recipient 102 provide specific digits of his birthday or specific letters of names of specific family members to solve the challenge.
In some embodiments of the disclosure, the gift provider 101 may buy tailor designed content for the victory page 450 (Fig. 4F), that may also be combined or otherwise creatively altered. Some examples may include: a specific song performed by a famous singer and dedicated to the gift recipient 102, a small digital extra gift or coupon, a digital artwork dedicated to the gift recipient 102, triggering of other events like an invitation to a real-world or online party.
Fig. 4A-4H are schematic illustrations of an example of a process of preparing a challenge 165 by a gift provider 101, according to an embodiment of the disclosure. As shown in Fig. 4A, the gift provider 101 may access a web site 162 based on the information provided on a preconfigured card 145. The gift provider 101 manually enters a game number and password from the card to enter web site 162 to generate challenge 165. Alternatively the game number and password information may be entered using a computerized device 120 (e.g. scanning the information from the card 145) or automatically through the network 130.
As shown in Fig. 4B the gift provider 101 enters his or her information. Optionally, after entering the gift provider information, application 115 allocates resources for the challenge 165. The application 115 may send the gift provider 101 an email (Fig. 4C) to verify the gift provider email address. After the gift provider 101 authenticates his or her email the web site 162 may display (Fig. 4D) different challenge options. The challenges may be sorted and/or filtered by, for example, a difficulty level and/or a type of challenge 165.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the gift provider 101 is then prompted to provide the information relating to the gift recipient 102 (Fig. 4E). The information may include the gift recipient’s name, residence details, telephone number, gender, and information about the gift recipient’s family, for example brothers and sisters or children. In different settings, such information may be different; for example, in a workplace setting such information may include details about work peers, departments, and the like. After providing personal information of the gift recipient 102 the gift provider 101 selects a victory page (Fig. 4F), for example by uploading an image, selecting an image from an image gallery or linking to a YouTube® hosted video. Many other options for a customized victory page 450 are currently possible and others more may be possible in the future, as stated above. The gift provider then confirms the information (Fig. 4G) and receives notification from the web site 162 that the challenge is ready (Fig. 4H). That information may also be summarized and sent to the gift provider 101 by other means, like email, SMS, and/or platform internal communication.
Fig. 5A-5D are schematic illustrations of an exemplary challenge 165, according to an embodiment of the disclosure. It should be emphasized that this is only one example of the challenge 165 creation process, provided to complete the description of the process; a person skilled in the art will be able to combine or create similar processes. In this example, the challenge 165, includes a sequence of slides with information that the gift recipient 102 is able to view and roll through while figuring out how to solve the challenge 165. The first slide 501 (Fig. 5A) includes an answer line 505 where the gift recipient 102 is supposed to provide an answer, for example a two or three digit number 510. The slide 501 displays an icon 521 (marked with “U” in this example) representing the gift recipient 102 and underneath a row of icons 522 (a), (b)... representing the gift recipient’s children (or family members). In this example, the icons 521/522 are provided as male or female icons according to the gender of the family member that they represent. In this example, the icons 522 representing the children or family members are lined up in chronological order with the icon size decreasing, so that the gift recipient 102 can identify, which child is represented by which icon. Optionally, one of the icons (in this figure icon 522(b)) is marked with an X to signify that the gift recipient 102 should use the name of that child to complete a link 515 at the bottom of the slide. The link 515 links to a fourth slide 504 (Fig. 5D) that is required to solve the challenge 165. If the gift recipient 102 does not access the link 515 with the correct name inserted, he or she will be missing information to solve the challenge 165.
The second slide 502 (Fig. 5B) shows a set of numeric values (e.g. 0-9) differentiated by some feature; in this example they are enclosed by different shapes. Optionally, the numeric values may be enclosed by circles, balloons, polygons or enclosed by the same shape with different color or shading surrounding the numeric value. The third slide 503 (Fig. 5C) shows the icon 522(b) of the child that was marked with an X in slide 501 and letter cells 530 for filling in the name of the child. The gift recipient 102 is supposed to find a matching numeric value for each letter of the child’s name (as explained below regarding slide 504) and fill in the numbers in numeric cells 540 that are located below the letter cells 530. The numeric cells show a calculation that is to be performed to receive a numeric value that will serve as the key 550 to solving the challenge 165. Optionally, the calculation may be by multiplying, adding, dividing and/or subtracting numeric cells 540 sequentially or according to the correct mathematical rules to derive the resulting key 550. The key 550 can then be entered in the first slide 501 or the third slide 503 and submitted to solve the challenge 165.
The fourth slide 504 (Fig. 5D) shows letters of the alphabet that can have different colors or shading or be enclosed by different shapes (as in this example. Optionally, the fourth slide 504 might show all the letters of the alphabet or only those needed to solve the challenge. The gift recipient 102 is supposed to conclude that the enclosing shape, color or shading of the letters in the fourth slide 504 should be used to find a matching numeric value with the same enclosing shape, color or shading in the second slide 502. The gift recipient 102 then fills in the matching numeric values in the numeric cells 540 in the third slide 503 to calculate the key 550 and solve the challenge 165.
To put Fig. 5A-5D into context, in an embodiment of the disclosure, the gift recipient 102 receives package 146 with the gift 140 and card 145. The recipient 102 accesses web site 162 by entering the link from the card 145. Optionally, the gift recipient 102 then enters the game number and code listed on the card 145 to enter the challenge 165. In an embodiment of the disclosure, the gift recipient 102 may then be prompted to enter his or her name, telephone number, or other information for verification. After this optional step the gift recipient 102 will be able to view the slides of the challenge 165 and solve it, as illustrated and explained above using the example challenge 165 described by Fig. 5A-5D. Following solving the challenge 165 a victory page 450, normally revealing the identification of the gift provider 102, will be presented to the gift recipient 102.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the programming code of application 115 is stored on a non-transitory computer readable medium so that the program can be executed by a computer to serve as a server for identifying a gift provider. Following are some exemplary scenarios for implementing the above system 100 and processes (200, 300).
1. In an embodiment of the disclosure, the gift provider 101 accesses an online store and purchases the gift 140 and the card 145. The card may be a preconfigured card 145 or may be printed by the store. The store attaches the card 145 to the gift 140 in a package 146 and ships the package 146 directly to the gift recipient 102. Optionally, the gift provider 101 prepares the challenge 165 during the purchasing process or can prepare the challenge 165 before the gift recipient 102 receives the package 146. In some embodiments of the disclosure, the challenge 165 defaults to a trivial quiz, for example showing the gift provider’s name with some letters missing for the gift recipient 102 to guess, if the gift provider 101 did not prepare the challenge 165 before the gift recipient 102 accesses the server 110 to solve the challenge 165.
2. In an embodiment of the disclosure, the gift provider 101 purchases a physical card 145. The card 145 can be attached by the gift provider 101 to a gift 140 or the card itself may serve as a gift, for example by providing a discount or the right to receive a product or service (e.g., subscription to a service). In an embodiment of the disclosure, the card can provide a right to an online or real- world service or product or may provide funds to purchase in a specific store or chain of stores.
The gift provider 101 is responsible to deliver the card 145 or the card 145 with the gift 140 together to the gift recipient 102 without revealing the identity of the gift provider 101 (e.g., as a gift under a Christmas tree or through a shipping service that does not reveal the identity of the sender; all as relevant and legal). The gift provider 101 uses the link or code 150 on the card to prepare the challenge 165 before the card 145 reaches the gift recipient 102.
3. In an embodiment of the disclosure, the gift provider 101 purchases a virtual card 145, for example from an online store. The card 145 may also serve as a gift, for example providing a discount or a free product or other benefits. The card 145 provides the gift provider 101 with information to prepare a challenge 165. The online store sends the card 145 to the gift recipient 102 without the information of the gift provider 101. Optionally, the card 145 may be sent electronically, for example by email, SMS or other communication methods enabling anonymity. The gift recipient 102 needs to solve the challenge 165 to discover the identity of the gift provider 101.
It should be appreciated that the above-described methods and apparatus may be varied in many ways, including omitting or adding steps, changing the order of steps and the type of devices used. It should be appreciated that different features may be combined in different ways. In particular, not all the features shown above in a particular embodiment are necessary in every embodiment of the disclosure. Further combinations of the above features are also considered to be within the scope of some embodiments of the disclosure.
It will also be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that the present disclosure is not limited to what has been particularly shown and described hereinabove but rather also applicable to equivalents and obvious variations.
