Description
A RATING ESTIMATION SYSTEM
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a system which enables to estimate the average viewing rates (rating) of a broadcast content before the content is broadcasted, based on the previous rating values of the broadcast content and also the characteristics of both the broadcast channel and the audience; to determine by which situations or conditions, how much and how the estimated value is affected; to evaluate and report it in a simulation environment that is more real-like by means of competitor analysis.
Background of the Invention
Today, with the effect of rapidly increasing digitalization in recent years, machine learning and autonomous systems have increased their impact and scope in the broadcasting sector as well as in all areas at the age of artificial intelligence. In competitive systems, it is quite important to simulate or make predictions about anticipated situations beforehand, in terms of performing strategic and budgetary planning. The fact that habits in the broadcasting industry are changing in line with digitalization leads to the differentiation of contents to be broadcasted and the proliferation of alternatives. Predicting the ‘rating’ value a scenario will acquire through different choices to perform its planning -that is set forth as a project particularly in the periods called as broadcast season- and presenting this result to producers at an explainable level allow for a versatile analysis both in terms of budget and strategically. Therefore, the predicted success of a scenario that is expected to be broadcasted independently is evaluated over a rating metric, and it prepares a tangible environment for various action plans to be created.
In the state of the art, rating of a broadcast content can be determined during a broadcast and by means of measurement devices that are invisibly distributed. The share of a broadcast content from measurement devices that are randomly and invisibly distributed, during a broadcast and in the course of measurement is called as rating value. The ratio of the said measuring devices per television -only the ones being switched on- is called as TVR value and the share it receives from the TVR value is called as share value. Therefore, the rating -that is taken as a basis for success metric- is not reviewed alone but it is reviewed upon being associated to TVR and share values. However, in the current situation, rating measurements can only be measured by broadcasting the contents for a certain period of time and by means of the audience reactions.
For this reason, considering the studies and deficiencies in the state of art, there is a need for a system which enables to estimate the rating of a broadcast content before the content is broadcasted; to determine by which situations or conditions, how much and how the forecasted value is affected; and to re-evaluate and report the said situation in a realistic way by means of the competitor analysis at the next step.
The Japanese patent document no. JP2019004370A, an application in the state of the art, discloses a system and method which enables to estimate the future rating values of contents in accordance with the content information and the previous viewing data. The said invention provides a viewer rating estimation system and in this viewer rating estimation system, a query module whereby program-specific information are entered and an estimation wherein information specific to the input program are provided from a query module are developed; an information site requested by the estimation module in order to access the program-specific information and the program and the related information specified by the programspecific information in response to providing the module is provided in accordance with the access number database and the program-specific information; the estimation module is provided with a database of program viewing rate which is
requested to provide the view rate of the previous program related to the program specified by the program-specific information and the access count history to the information related to the program specified by the program cookie is retrieved from the access count database; the previous program view rate related to the program specified by the program cookie is retrieved from the program viewing rate database and it is enabled to estimate the view rate of the program specified by the program specific information based on the correlation between the access count history and the viewing rate of the previous program.
