Definitions
- Multimedia cables such as HDMI or DP ( display port) or USB-C or any other are typically cables with one connector on each side of the cable which follows its own standard, so an HDMI cable only has HDMI connectors, USB-C only has USB-C connectors and so on.
- a multi-connector cable is usually NOT-PASSING-THROUGH drywalls, pipes, conduits, as multiple connectors on the same cable increases the overall cable size and connectors collides each-others so the cable gets stuck in drywalls, pipes, conduits, etc.
- a single slim multi-signal CUSTOM CONNECTORS CABLE usually requires additional costs as the custom connectors on both ends of the cable not only are a custom production but then also requires additional adapters to bring back the signals to their native connectors ( hdmi, usb-c, etc ), as well additional installation time and eventually more power consumption.
- This AMCSMC invention is the method to add multiple connectors and signals to a Single connector cable in a way so the final multi-connector cable will still be overall slim enough to pass through drywalls pipes conduits for an easy installation anywhere, HAVING THE CONNECTORS ALREADY INSTALLED ON THE CABLE making this solution USER-FRIENDLY and READY-TO-GO for end users and integrators.
- This AMCSMC invention proposes a method to “ route-out ” the extra wires and/or fibers from the main connector so cable manufacturers can reuse any existing connector such as HDMI or USB-C or any other, to build multiconnectors cables without the need to redesign the existing main connectors circuits or housing shells, making the time-to-market for a new multi-connector cable practically real time.
- a single VIDEO or DATA connector only passes its own signals, such as H DM I CONNECTOR handles only HDMI signals, USB-C connector only handles USB- C signals, and so on.
- AMCSMC ADD MULTIPLE CONNECTORS to a SINGLE MULTIMEDIA CONNECTOR
- REGULAR WIRES and/or FIBERS are connected as usual to the REGULAR CONNECTOR used for VIDEO or DATA such as HDMI or USB-C etc..
- EXTRA WIRES and/or FIBERS are “ ROUTED OUT “ from the back of the regular multimedia connector shell case, so the final assembly will see the main cable coming into the connector PLUS the extra wires COMING OUT from the main multimedia connector.
- Each extra wire and/or fiber coming out from the main connector might have its own extra connector such as 3.5 millimeters mini jack for IR or serial Remote controls or analog stereo audio, LC or SC Fiber connectors for fiber ethernet, additional USB-C connectors for gaming controllers or extra video or any other application, toslink audio connectors, and any other electric or optic standard or custom connector for any type of extra data additional to the main connector standard.
- extra connector such as 3.5 millimeters mini jack for IR or serial Remote controls or analog stereo audio, LC or SC Fiber connectors for fiber ethernet, additional USB-C connectors for gaming controllers or extra video or any other application, toslink audio connectors, and any other electric or optic standard or custom connector for any type of extra data additional to the main connector standard.
- a typical result of this AMCSMC technique when used for HDMI or USB cables is an HDMI or USB-C cable where the HDMI or USB-C connectors have extra cables coming out from their cable press-stop overmolded rubber gasket, from their back, molded together in the same cable press stop overmolded rubber gasket where the main cable comes in to the main connector.
- the extra cables coming out from the back of the main connector might have different lengths so their respective attached connectors can spread in length over a span on the main cable so when you pass the whole cable through a drywall or pipe or electrical conduit the connectors will not collide each others blocking the cable in the drywall or pipe or electric conduit, but instead, being spread in length, will make the overall cable with connectors section always thinner, slim, so it will easily pass through drywalls or pipes or electrical conduits or anywhere else, without having two connectors in the same position at the same time, stucking the cable.
- This AMCSMC method also gives the benefit to be usable over any existing Multimedia standard or custom connector such as HDMI connectors or USB-C connectors simply routing out from the existing connector shell housing the extra wires and/or fibers without the need to re design the actual main connector shell housing molding, simply overmolding the extra wires and/or fibers in the connector p cable press-stop rubber gasket, making the go-to-production time almost zero, saving money, making the time-to- market almost real time to any modification and variant to add any combination of extra cables and connectors to any existing multimedia or customized connector, with the ability to still be able to pass the final cable made with this invention method through drywalls, pipes, electrical conduits, where otherwise all extra connectors would not pass and block/stuck the cable.
- any existing Multimedia standard or custom connector such as HDMI connectors or USB-C connectors simply routing out from the existing connector shell housing the extra wires and/or fibers without the need to re design the actual main connector shell housing molding, simply overmolding the extra wires and/or fiber
- FIG. 1 schematically illustrates an multimedia connector HDMI or USB-C or any other with extra wires coming out from the back of the connector molded together with the main cable into the cable-press-stopper over-molded gasket of the main connector.
- FIG. 2 schematically illustrates inside a multimedia connector HDMI or USB-C to see the standard wires connected to the regular main connector plus the extra wires routed-out through the back of the main connector via the cable-press-stopper rubber gasket to the different wanted extra connectors(any combination possible), each of the extra connectors is at a different distance so the extra connectors will not collide each-others when passed-through drywalls or pipes or conduits.
- FIG.2 also shows how it is possible to route-out extra wires from any existing connector without the need to redesign the connector and/or the housing sheels, just including the extra wires into the same over-molding rubber gasket of the main coming-in cable
- FIG.1 A first figure.
