Abstract

The invention relates to a friction stir welding tool retainer (14) for holding a friction stir welding tool (15) in a machine tool (1), comprising: a main body (16), a tool clamping holder (17) for holding the friction stir welding tool (15), a machine tool interface (18) for coupling the friction stir welding tool retainer (14) to a tool holder (4) of a working spindle (3) of the machine tool (1). Furthermore, an angle drive (23) is formed, by means of which the tool clamping holder (17) is torque-transmittingly coupled to the machine tool interface (18). A machine tool interface rotational axis (24) and a tool clamping holder rotational axis (25) are angled relative to each other at a friction stir angle (26).
