Reference will now be made in detail to exemplary embodiments of the invention, which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Hereinafter, embodiments consistent with the disclosure will be described with reference to the drawings. Wherever possible, the same reference numbers will be used throughout the drawings to refer to the same or like parts. It is apparent that the described embodiments are some but not all of the embodiments of the present invention. Based on the disclosed embodiments, persons of ordinary skill in the art may derive other embodiments consistent with the present disclosure, all of which are within the scope of the present invention.
The present disclosure provides a wig that accommodates at least two types of hairs. The disclosed wig includes a wig base and at least two types of hairs attached to the wig base. The wig base includes a cap and a hair attaching layer. The cap is configured to secure the wig around a wearer’s head. The hair attaching layer may include a first hair attaching portion configured to attach a first type of hair and a second hair attaching portion configured to attach a second type of hair. The first type of hair and the second type of hair have different hair characteristics, such as different material, different texture, different color, different curling level, etc. The hairs may be attached to the hair attaching layer of the wig base in any suitable manners, such as sewing, hand-tie, and/or gluing. The first hair attaching portion may be located closer to a front edge of the wig corresponding to a forehead of the wearer than the second hair attaching portion. The hair density at locations (e.g., the first hair attaching portion) closer to the front edge of the wig may be less/lower than the hair density at locations further away from the front edge (e.g., the second hair attaching portion) .
In some embodiments, the hair attaching layer may be an individual layer that covers a part or all of the cap. In other words, the cap is an inner layer of the wig base that contacts the wearer’s head, and the hair attaching layer is an outer layer of the wig base. The hair attaching layer and the cap are bound together. In some embodiments, some part or all of an outer layer of the cap may function as a part of or all of the hair attaching layer.
In some embodiments, the wig base may further include a front layer having an extension portion that extends outward from the cap at a front side of the wig. The extension portion of the front layer may be made of fabric that mimics characteristics of human forehand skin. The extension portion of the front layer may be trimmed when a user is wearing the wig to fit his/her natural hairline. One edge of the front layer (e.g., an edge opposite of the extension portion) may be attached to the cap. The hair attaching layer may be attached on top of or over a part of the front layer other than the extension portion.
FIGS. 1-5 illustrate an exemplary wig base at different views. As shown in FIGS. 1-5, the wig base may include a cap 100, a hair attaching layer 200, and a front layer 300. The cap 300 may be a stretchy mesh cap and any other suitable cap to be used in a wig. The cap 100 may include adjustable straps, stretchy band, and/or combs for secure fixation on a wearer’s head. The shape of the cap 300 may be defined by an annular band sized to fit around a wearer's head such that the cap 300 can be positioned above and behind the wearer's ears. The front layer 300 may have an extension portion that extends outward at the front of the cap 100 and is positioned at a wearer’s forehead. The front layer 300 may be made of lace or other materials that have a skin color. The hair attaching layer 200 may include a first hair attaching portion 202 configured to attach a first type of hair and a second hair attaching portion 204 configured to attach a second type of hair. In some embodiments, the first type of hair may be yaki hair and the second type of hair may be silk hair.
The first hair attaching portion 202 is located at a front edge of the hair attaching layer 200 that surrounds a perimeter of a front hairline of the wearer. In some embodiments, a distance between the front edge of the hair attaching layer 200 (which is also the front edge of the the first hair attaching portion 202) and a back edge of the first hair attaching portion 202 is pre-defined, such as 3 centimeters. The first hair attaching portion 202 contacts the second hair attaching portion 204. The back edge of the first hair attaching portion 202 is the front edge of the second hair attaching portion 204.
In some embodiments, the first hair attaching portion 202 may be configured to attach the first type of hair with a plurality of densities based on a distance from a current location to the front edge of the hair attaching layer 200. For example, the first hair attaching portion 202 may be divided into a front part 2022 and a back part 2024. The density of the first type of hair attached to the front part 2022 may be less than that of the back part 2024. In some cases, strands of the first type of hair are fixed (e.g. sewn) into holes of the first hair attaching portion 202. The front part 2022 and the back part 2024 are made of a same fabric with holes having same intervals. One strand of the first type of hair may be sewn into every third hole of the fabric at the front part 2022 (i.e., skipping two holes) . Two strands of the first type of hair may be sewn into every second hole of the fabric at the back part 2024 (i.e. , skipping one hole) . Further, part or all of the second hair attaching portion 204 may be made of the same fabric as the first hair attaching portion 202. Two strands of the second type of hair may be sewn into every hole of the fabric at the second hair attaching portion 204. Alternatively, in first few lines of holes of the first hair attaching portion 202 closer to the first hair attaching portion 204, each hole may be sewn with one strand of first type of hair and one strand of second type of hair for blending effect. In this way, the wig can mimic natural human hair density distribution. In some embodiments, the strands of hair may also be sewn into part of the front layer 300 that overlaps with the hair attaching layer 200.
FIGS. 6-10 illustrate an exemplary wig after hairs are attached to the disclosed wig base at different views consistent with an exemplary embodiment. As shown in FIGS. 6-10, the wig includes a first type of hair 400 and a second type of hair 500. The first type of hair 400 is attached to the first hair attaching portion 202 of the wig base and positioned at the front of the wig corresponding to the wearer’s forehead. The second type of hair 500 is attached to the second hair attaching portion 204 and positioned at the back of the wig corresponding to the wearer’s crown and back of the head.
Other embodiments of the disclosure will be apparent to those skilled in the art from consideration of the specification and practice of the invention disclosed herein. It is intended that the specification and examples be considered as exemplary only, with a true scope and spirit of the invention being indicated by the claims.
