Abstract
La présente invention concerne un élément d'affichage à cristaux liquides permettant d'afficher une image à fort contraste, et un procédé de fabrication d'un élément d'affichage à cristaux liquides. Un élément d'affichage à cristaux liquides (1) comprend une couche de cristaux liquides (4) contenant des molécules de cristaux liquides prises en sandwich entre deux substrats AM, CF. L'un des substrats AM, CF est en contact avec la couche de cristaux liquides (4) et est doté d'un polymère d'un monomère polymérisable ayant un groupe polymérisable qui peut être polymérisé par irradiation avec des rayons à énergie active, et, du fait de la présence du polymère, la rugosité de surface (Ra) de la surface en contact avec la couche de cristaux liquides (4) est de 1 à 30 nm. Le monomère polymérisable comprend de préférence un auxiliaire d'alignement qui est doté d'un groupe polymérisable et qui a pour fonction d'amener les molécules de cristaux liquides à s'aligner spontanément, et l'auxiliaire d'alignement est de préférence doté d'un groupe polaire.
