Definitions
- Fluid product dispenser equipped with a magnetic system for relative positioning
- the invention relates to a dispenser for a fluid product, equipped with a magnetic system for relative positioning.
- the fluid product is of the lotion, gel, perfume, or cream type, for example, for cosmetic use or for pharmaceutical treatments.
- Existing dispenser includes a reservoir intended to contain the fluid product, the neck of the reservoir being equipped with a dispensing head for dispensing the fluid product, and a cap is intended to cap said head in order to close the dispenser.
- the cap like the reservoir, may comprise lateral walls that need to be aligned or positioned with respect to each other when the dispenser is closed.
- the object of the invention is to eliminate the aforementioned drawbacks and propose a dispenser which has a system for the relative positioning of the cap and of the reservoir and which is simple and effective to use while at the same time allowing the dispenser to be closed correctly by the cap.
- SUBSTITUTE SHEETS (RULE 26) - a reservoir intended to contain said product and having a neck;
- a dispensing head for dispensing said product, fitted with the neck of the reservoir, and being provided with a central axis X;
- a magnetic system for relatively positioning the cap relative to the dispensing head in a predetermined relative position upon closing including:
- the dispenser is characterized in that, when it is closed, the first and second magnetic means are axially located at the same position along the axis X, in a concentric arrangement, the second magnetic means surrounding the first magnetic means, so as to create a radial magnetic attraction between the cap and the dispensing head.
- the main idea of this invention is to provide a radial attraction, so that the cap is automatically rotated so as to position the first magnetic means in front of the second magnetic means.
- the user only has to push the cap around the dispensing head with a traditional translation movement, and then the magnetic system takes over and finishes the radial positioning.
- the first and second magnetic means have opposite polarities on their facing faces.
- the magnetic means are each located in a limited angular-range groove: that means that the magnetic means are not located all around the X-axis, but only along a predetermined arc, in order to enable a predetermined radial positioning of the cap relative to the dispensing head. There is only one stable position of the cap relative to the dispensing head.
- the limited angular-range grooves are axially located at the same position along the axis X when the dispenser is closed: that enables the magnetic means located inside the grooves to be axially aligned, at least before their radial alignment.
- each magnetic means is in an arc shape.
- each magnetic means has an arched face with a North pole, and an opposite arched face with a South pole.
- one of the arched facing faces of the magnetic means is a North pole
- the other arched facing face of the magnetic means is a South pole: these two arched facing faces have opposite polarities so as to create an attraction force between them.
- each magnetic means consists of a permanent multi-polar magnet.
- the cap has an internal cylindrical surface which slides into place when closing, onto a cylindrical portion of the dispensing head.
- said cylindrical portion of the dispensing head corresponds to a sleeve mounted on the neck of the reservoir and receiving a pumping device, said sleeve defining a first limited angular-range groove for accommodating the first magnetic means.
- the internal cylindrical surface of the cap is provided with a second limited angular- range groove for accommodating the second magnetic means.
- each magnetic means is fixed in its respective groove, for example by gluing or wedging.
- each groove is curved with a complementary shape to the magnetic means accommodated inside.
- the cap is provided with a flat lateral wall
- the reservoir is provided with a flat lateral wall
- the magnetic system enabling both said flat lateral walls of the cap and the reservoir to be positioned in parallel planes P and P’ upon closing of the dispenser. If P and P’ are the same plane, the dispenser can be lying on a horizontal support, like a shelf or a bathroom work surface, corresponding to the plane P.
- the flat lateral walls of the cap and the reservoir rest on the support, whereas the bottom wall of the reservoir is free.
- the second magnetic means is arranged on the same side that the flat lateral wall of the cap.
- FIG. 1 shows a dispenser according to the invention
- FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the dispenser of figure 1 , with a hidden part of the cap;
- FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the cap and the dispensing head of the dispenser of figures 1 and 2.
- Figure 1 illustrates a dispenser according to the invention.
- This dispenser is mainly composed of a reservoir 1 , and a cap 2.
- the reservoir 1 is intended to contain a fluid product of the lotion, gel, perfume or cream type, for example, for cosmetic use or for pharmaceutical treatments.
- the reservoir 1 can take all kinds of shape, but must have at least one flat lateral wall 7.
- the cap 2 can take all kind of external shape, but must have at least one flat lateral wall 6.
- a flat lateral wall 7 of the reservoir 1 and the flat lateral wall 6 of the cap 2 are located on parallel planes P and P’, when the dispenser is closed.
- the flat lateral wall 7 of the reservoir 1 is located on the same plane P that the flat lateral wall 6 of the cap 2, when the dispenser is closed.
- This dispenser is designed to rest on a horizontal support according to plane P, the flat lateral walls 7,6 of the reservoir 1 and the cap 2 being in contact with this horizontal support. As a result, the dispenser is likely lying on the horizontal support. In this laid position, the bottom 12 of the reservoir 1 is free of contact, contrary to traditional dispenser where the bottom of the reservoir rests on the horizontal support.
- SUBSTITUTE SHEETS (RULE 26) head 3 is provided with a central axis X, parallel to the plane P comprising both lateral flat walls 7,6 of the reservoir 1 and the cap 2.
- the dispenser is provided with a magnetic system for relatively positioning the cap 2 relative to the dispensing head 3 in a predetermined relative position upon closing the cap 2 on the dispensing head 3, so as the lateral flat faces 7,6 of the reservoir 1 and the cap 2 are aligned on parallel planes P and P’.
- the dispensing head 3 comprises a cylindrical sleeve 10 that is fixedly positioned into the neck 13 of the reservoir 1 , so that there is a correspondence between the radial position of the sleeve 10 and the radial position of the reservoir 1 .
- This sleeve 10 receives a pumping device 14.
- This magnetic system comprises a first magnetic means 4 with permanent magnetization located in the dispensing head 3, and a second magnetic means 5 with permanent magnetization located in the cap 2.
- first and second magnetic means 4,5 consist of a first and second permanent multi-polar magnets 4,5.
- the first magnet 4 is located into the sleeve 10 of the dispensing head 3, whereas the second magnet 5 is located into the cap 2. Both magnets 4,5 are facing each other when the dispenser is closed, i.e. when the cap 2 covers the dispensing head 3.
- the magnets 4,5 have opposite polarities on their facing faces15,16, which means that one facing face is a North pole, and the other facing face is a South pole, so as to create an attraction between both facing faces 15,16.
- both magnets are curved-shaped, one extremity of each magnet being a North pole and the other extremity being a South pole.
- the South pole (respectively the North pole) of the first magnet faces the North pole (respectively the South pole) of the second magnet so as to create an attraction between both magnets.
- both magnets 4,5 are axially located at the same position along the X-axis.
- One of the magnet 4 is radially closer to the X-axis than the other magnet 5.
- the first magnet 4 located into the sleeve 10 is radially closer to the X-axis than the second magnet 5 located into the cap 2.
- Both magnets 4,5 are in a concentric arrangement, around the X-axis. More precisely, the second magnet 5 surrounds the first magnet 4, so as to create a radial magnetic attraction between them.
- each magnet 4,5 is located in a limited angular-range groove 8,9, in order to take minimum space and have a compact magnetic system.
- Each magnet 4,5 is in an arc shape, for a better radial attraction between them when the cap 2 turns around the dispensing head 3 until it reaches its exact relative position. With this shape, the magnets 4,5 fit correctly into the limited angular-range groove 8,9.
- the sleeve 10 defines a housing 8 for accommodating the first magnet 4.
- This housing 8 is curved and corresponds to a first limited angular-range groove
- this first groove 8 is arranged in a radial portion of the dispensing head located on the same side that the flat lateral wall 7 of the reservoir 1 .
- the cap 2 defines a recess 9 for accommodating the second magnet 5.
- This recess 9 is curved and corresponds to a second limited angular-range groove
- this second groove 9 is arranged on the same side that the flat lateral wall 6 of the cap 2.
- Both grooves 8,9 are designed so as, when they are radially superimposed, with the magnets 4,5 face to face, both lateral flat walls 7,6 of the reservoir 1 and the cap 2 are aligned on parallel planes P and P’.
- the grooves 8,9 can be arranged differently relative to the flat lateral walls 7,6, as long as the walls 7,6 are axially aligned when the grooves 8,9 are radially superimposed.
- the cap 2 has a hollowed area 1 1 defining an internal cylindrical surface 17 which slides into place when closing, onto the sleeve 10 of the dispensing head 3.
- the sleeve 10 has a first end (not represented) provided with means for securing it to the neck 13 of the reservoir 1 , for instance a threading, and a second end 18 from which projects a push button 19 for activating the dispenser.
- the internal cylindrical surface 17 of the cap 2 is provided with an annular shoulder 20, able to abut against the second end 18 of the sleeve 10.
- shoulder 20 When the shoulder 20 is in contact with the second end 18 of the sleeve 10, it means that the dispensing head 3 has been entirely driven into the cap 2.
- the first magnet 4 In this closed state, the first magnet 4 is axially located at the same position that the second magnet 5 along the X-axis.
- the grooves 8,9 have also to correspond axially, at least on the areas where are fixed the magnets 4,5. Then the radial positioning takes place with the magnetic fields created by the magnets 4,5, as this will be explained below.
- the magnets 4,5 can be fixed in the grooves 8,9 for example by gluing or wedging. Any other suitable technique is possible.
- Each magnet 4,5 has an arched face with a North pole, and an opposite arched face with a South pole.
- one of the arched facing face of the magnets is a North pole, whereas the other arched facing face of the magnets is a South pole.
- the user can put back the cap 2 on the dispensing head 3 without worrying about the alignment of the flat lateral walls 7,6.
- the cap 2 is axially guided by the internal cylindrical surface 17 which slides along the external cylindrical surface of the sleeve 10 of the dispensing head 3.
- the magnets 4,5 are located in a same axial position along the X-axis, but are not necessarily aligned radially, and the magnetic fields generated by the permanent magnets 4,5 starts interacting for operating the radial positioning.
- the magnets 4,5 are located in a same axial position along the X-axis, there will never be any axial repulsion between the cap 2 and the dispensing head 3.
- the first magnet 4 is radially opposed to the second magnet 5. If the magnetic fields generated by the magnets 4,5 are not strong enough to interact, the user will only have to turn slightly the cap 2 until the magnetic fields interact, and this turning movement will be accentuated by the attraction of the polar zones of opposed polarities of the two magnets 4,5 which gradually come into a concentric arrangement as the cap 2 turns until the two lateral flat walls 7,6 are aligned.
- the cap 2 is put in place with the polar zones of the two magnets 4,5 which have opposed polarities facing each other, i.e. with the magnets 4,5 already into a concentric arrangement, which means that no rotation is brought about.
- the cap 2 is then in a stable position with respect to the reservoir 1 , this stable position having been predetermined in such a way that the lateral flat walls of the cap 2 and the reservoir 1 are aligned on parallel planes P and P’.
