Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the field of agronomy.
  • the present invention relates to enhancement of crop plant yield and growth by application of homeopathic drugs.
  • Synthetic fertilizers are commonly used worldwide, particularly in developing countries for commercial agricultural practice. Application of synthetic fertilizers allow for increased yield, which is required to feed the ever burgeoning population of the Earth. Newer plant and crop varieties which are high yielding also require higher inputs in term of synthetic fertilizers, thus increasing the demand and burden of synthetic fertilizers.
  • Synthetic fertilizers are obtained from non-renewable energy resources. Increased production and the unfettered use of synthetic fertilizers especially in developing countries has led to degradation of the soil, destruction of forests, and increase in green house gases emission.

  • Seed viability test Prior to sowing, a test was carried out using floating method and thereafter two seeds were planted per hole, but later thinned to one per stand two weeks after plantation. • Figure 1 depicts the effect on various okra growth characteristics upon treatment with various homeopathic medicines alone or in combinations as given in Table 1.
  • Mean yield As seen in Figure 1, contrary to expected results, treatment with chemical fertilizers (NPK) (T10) results in a lower mean yield of okra compared to control treatment (T9) (about 26% decrease). In contrast, treatment T6 results in about a 19% increase over control treatment and about a 62% increase over NPK (T10) treatment.
  • This enhancement in mean yield by treatment T6 is unexpectedly and surprisingly more than the effect of treatment T2 (Kali alone) or treatment T5 (urea alone). The effect of T2 is about 13% more compared to T9, and about 53% more compared to T10. While T5 does not enhance mean yield compared to T9, T5 enhances mean yield by about 5% compared to T10.
  • T6 Mean flowering time (days): As seen in Figure 1, it is seen that NPK treatment (T10) results in a mean flowering time of 46.95 days. Treatment T6 results in a decrease of about 12% compared to T10. This is unexpected and indicative of synergism as treatment T2 results in a decrease of about 9% compared to T10, while treatment T5 result in decrease of about 7.5%. These data suggest that the effect exhibited by T6 is synergistic in nature.
  • treatment T6 advantageously enhances (in synergistic manner) the agronomic features of okra plant in that while the mean flowering time in days is reduced, concurrently, the mean yield of okra is also increased.
  • the apparent synergism observed is further highlighted by the fact that not any combination of homeopathic drugs exhibits synergism as seen in the case of treatment T7, wherein said treatment T7 does not exhibit synergism compared to at least one of treatment Tl, T2, T4, and T5.
