Abstract

The invention relates to a block valve comprising: an inlet (6a) and an outlet (6b) forming a horizontal fluid passage; and a disc (2) secured with a horizontal pivot pin (3) perpendicular to the fluid passage, said disc having a lower portion (2a) with a counterweight and an upper portion (2b) with a coupling element (8). The valve comprises means (4) for blocking the disc (2), which are secured and released relative to the coupling element (8). The disc (2) rotates about the pivot pin (3) between an open position in which the passage of the fluid maintains the disc (2) substantially parallel to the direction of passage of the fluid, and a closed position in which, in the absence of fluid, the counterweight, under the force of gravity, maintains the disc (2) perpendicular to the direction of passage of the fluid, the coupling element (8) remaining secured to the blocking means (4).
