  • Primary display 5 includes rows l3a-l and three columns 10, 11 and 12. Outside primary playing field 5 is a plurality of multi bet/wager secondary fields 6a-f and 7a-f.
  • An example of player interaction with the display 1 will now be described according to a non - limiting embodiment.
  • a Player 1 elects to wager $100 in a multi bet at location 6a. With one wager, player 1 selects via the shortcut of field 6a, twelve different symbols, icons, characters, numbers from the primary display 5 according to how display 5 is set up.
  • Figure 4b shows hatched areas setting out a pattern of 12 symbols, icons etc., automatically selected in primary field 5 via the multi bet at secondary field 6 and more specifically at location 6a.
  • Player 1 will receive 2 to 1 odds (see row l3m), for the original bet. ln play, the roulette ball falls on the golden star icon 50 of roulette wheel 2. Since the golden star 50 ( see figure 4a) was one of the selections in the Player 1 shortcut selections, Player 1 wins 2 to 1. In this example the win is $200 but subtracting the original wager of $100 the gain is $100.
  • Player 1 has taken advantage of multi betting field 6a-f to select a pattern of numbers by placing a wager on location 6a outside the primary betting field 5.

  • Figure 4c shows the wager highlighted with a circle around the gold star. $hould the player win and due to the lower probability of a winning selection, the payout will be 35 times the original bet - i.e. as shown in Figure 4b, the ball in the roulette wheel 2 lands on the golden star icon 55. Since gold star icon 50 on the display was the winning selection, player 2 wins according to this example, $1750. Player 2 has elected to wager on a low probability outcome within the primary playing field 5 but with high return for a win - i.e. 35 times the original bet.
  • Player 3 elects to wager $200 on the black cat symbol/icon 60 on primary display 5 as shown in Figure 4c. This player has elected to bet on a symbol on primary display 5, an option which is not available on current roulette games. Since this wager has a low probability of a win, in the event of a win the player will received 35 times the original bet.
  • Cat symbol 60 is illuminated and the bet of $200 is highlighted as shown in Figure 4b. In this example, the roulette wheel is spun and stops with gold star symbol 55 highlighted. As there is no match between symbol 55 on roulette wheel 2 and the cat symbol 60, player 3 has lost. In this case the loss will be the total of the original wager which was $200.

PRIOR ART
[0003] There are already in existence a wide variety of games of chance and gaming games including those that are playable on line and in casinos such as table games. In order to achieve an edge over competitors, gaming houses, operators and designers are constantly seeking and providing improvements in game and gaming options, special game features in the hope of attracting existing and new player interest and which provide players with novel alternatives. In gaming, it is usually those features associated with jackpots or a perceived or actual increased probability of winning which are likely to attract player interest. A typical table or electronic game display will include indicia for the benefit of the player relating to various choices including the number of bet options, the instructions which tell the player how to play and what the status of play.
[0004] Gaming is often considered by participants as more about entertainment than an expectation of large returns on bets. Game providers have continually sought ways to make games more attractive to the player which ensure that player interest will be maintained largely founded on an increased perception of a win or an increased actual chance of a win.
[0005] Table gaming games found in casinos and the like are also adaptable in electronic form. Some card games can be played on line allowing player betting on outcomes. Cards are also used in poker machines. In order to achieve an edge over competitors, casino operators gaming machine producers and totalisator betting agencies provide special game or betting features in the hope of attracting player interest and which provide players with novel alternatives. In gaming, it is usually those features associated a perceived or actual increased probability of winning which are likely to attract most player interest. Apart from pure manual table games such as Baccarat and Blackjack, many of the known games are displayed electronically in clubs and casinos. Game and gaming hardware and software is designed to accommodate changes to the game content and presentation. [0006] In the known roulette type games a player’s luck is completely dependent upon the randomness of spins and the pre play betting options that the player has exercised. Outcomes are normally determined by a game controller within gaming hardware. The present invention offers a new alternative betting option covering multiple wagering options. The wagering option is located outside the original /primary playing field in a secondary playing field but still connected and associated with the playing field. The wagering options can be offered electronically or on a layout for live chips or cash to be used.
[0007] There is an ongoing long felt want in the gaming industry to provide improvements in the game efficiency, productivity and profitability as well as the gaming experience and to continually improve the software and hardware environments in which such games are conducted and player betting options.
[0008] There are in existence a variety of gaming type games which require players to pick random numbers such as that disclosed in US2012/0220357, the contents of which are incorporated by reference herein. These are generically called lotto type games and are purely games of chance in which a potentially unlimited number of players pay to enter the game and select a series of numbers with a win based on whether or not a pre-determined number of the selected numbers are randomly drawn. There are many other games of chance and wagering games such as table games in casinos, however the present invention offers a new method of wagering with multi betting which is not presently found in current game and gaming opftions.

5 is associated with a secondary bet option in secondary playing field 6 and 7. Primary playing field 5 includes conventional roulette games and bet options such as red or black, over and under (a real or virtual line), or first, second and third zones. The secondary playing field 6 and 7 is associated with an array of symbols and/or icons, and/or characters on the primary field 5. Secondary or auxiliary playing field
6 and 7 is interactive with the primary playing field 5 and allows a player an option to wager outside the playing field 5 ( in secondary playing field 6 and 7 ) in addition to or as an alternative to betting on the primary playing field 5.
[0046] ln the embodiment of Figure 2 there are six secondary bet fields 6a-f on one side of playing field 5 and six secondary betting fields 7a-f on the opposite side but external to playing field 5. These are indicted as multi betting areas which allow a player to place a bet/wager on one or more of the secondary betting fields (6a-f and 7a-f), which are either randomly populated or pre- populated with indicia to represent a shortcut bet option which is reflected in a corresponding pattern on the primary bet field 5 created by the symbols, shapes, numbers, icons or characters.
[0047] Figures 3a-k show display 1 of figure 1 this time including various display patterns in primary playing field 5. This serves to illustrate a variety of ( non limiting) bet options for a player presenting sample patterns and combinations on which a player can wager during game play. In the displays shown in figures 3a-k, there are shown secondary bet fields populated with numbers, which provide short cut bet options. Example display patterns are shown by hatched areas on each display a-k. Figure 3a shows primary display 5 and secondary displays 6a-f and 7a-f as previously described. In figure 3a for example, there is provided a primary display 5 comprising three columns 10, 11 and 12 in association with secondary playing field represented by locations 6a-f and 7a-f as previously described. In figure 3a field 6e is populated with numerals 3, 5, 7, 10, 14, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, 32, 36. This indicates that a multi bet at location 6e activates the aforesaid numbers in the primary playing field 5. - Bet field 6e is populated with numbers, which select the pattern shown on primary display 5. By placing a bet on field 6e, a player can bet on the pattern shown in primary field 5 on display 1 without having to select individual numbers from filed 5. This provides an alternative bet option and a more convenient short cut form of betting. On an opposite side of playing field 5 there are a plurality of additional secondary bet fields 7a-e.
[0048] Described herein is an electronic table game, which displays separately or in combination an array of numbers, symbols, icons, characters, letters, or a combination or combinations thereof. According to one embodiment, the game includes a roulette wheel and which is typically played in a casino, but it will be appreciated that the casino game can be simulated on a computer or other electronic device such as but not limited to a television, ipad, tablet, phone as if it was played in a casino allowing interaction between the player and electronic table and roulette wheel.
[0049] According to a preferred embodiment, a player can choose to place a bet with chips on a standard or digital table with 36, 37, 38 or other number of different symbols, numbers, icons, characters, colours. Alternatively, a player may place a bet on one or more secondary playing fields 6a-e and 7a-e, which are disposed outside primary playing field 5 and include a population therein of either numbers, symbols, icons, characters or the like. In another example. Figure 3b shows a secondary bet placed at multi bet location 7e with the corresponding numbers highlighted in primary playing field 5. Figure 3c shows a secondary bet placed at multi bet location 6d with the corresponding numbers highlighted in primary playing field 5. Figure 3d shows a secondary bet placed at multi bet location 7c with the corresponding numbers highlighted in primary playing field 5. Figure 3e shows a secondary bet placed at multi bet location 7d with the corresponding numbers highlighted in primary playing field 5. Figure 3f shows a secondary bet placed at multi bet location 6a with the corresponding numbers highlighted in primary playing field 5. Figure 3g shows a secondary bet placed at multi bet location 6f with the corresponding numbers highlighted in primary playing field 5. Figure 3h shows a secondary bet placed at multi bet location 7b with the corresponding numbers highlighted in primary playing field 5. Figure 3i shows a secondary bet placed at multi bet location 7a with the corresponding numbers highlighted in primary playing field 5. Figures 3j and 3k show in a schematic examples of random patterns related to multi bet options in a secondary field 7a-f. In figures 3j and 3k secondary field 6 has been removed.
[0050] Typically a player will place the players chips on the standard or electronic/digital table. The standard table includes a covering with markings and allows the player to make play selections. The digital table includes a touch screen and allows interaction between the player and table for play selections. The electronic/digital display includes a touch screen. After the player has placed chips on the table (digital or otherwise), a ball is spun on a physical, ( or virtual) playing wheel, which also has the 36, 37, 38 or other number of symbols marked.
[0051] A dealer is in charge and responsible for the game. The dealer is the person who spins the ball on the roulette wheel. This function may also be carried out mechanically or digitally. The Dealer is also responsible for notifying the player when no more bets can be laid. The digital table, where in use, will automatically also notify and light up to announce to the player, that no more bets can be made.
[0052] If the player has placed chips on a display board symbol which matches the symbol on which the ball has landed, the player wins 35 times the original bet. If the ball doesn't land on any symbol that the player has put his chips on, the chips go to the casino, also called the house. The digital display provides various wagering/betting options for a player. In one example, a player has the opportunity to place bet/chips OVER or UNDER, a transverse line 20 ( best shown in figure 1) on the digital display which divides the playing field into two sections - over and under the dividing line. In this option the player is able to play the 18 (symbols 1- 18) above the line 20 or the 18 following symbols (symbols 19-36) below the line 20. According to one embodiment the space 21 labelled with symbol 0 is not playable in a games of OVER or UNDER. If the player wins a game of OVER or UNDER, after spinning of the wheel, the player wins 1 time the original bet. If the player does not win at OVER or UNDER, the chips will go to the house.
[0053] In an alternative embodiment, a player can elect to wager on colours such as but not limited to the colours RED color or BLACK. Each symbol is designated by the color red or black. If the player wins in color, the player wins 1 times the original bet. If the player does not win at color, the chips will go to the house. In a further embodiment, the player can also play an option designated FIRST, SECOND and THIRD, which are specific areas on the display where the player is betting at 12 numbers, characters, shapes, symbols, icons, or other indicia concurrently. FIRST are the first 12 symbols (1-12), SECOND are the 12 following symbols (13-24) and THIRD are the symbols (25-36). If the player wins at FIRST, SECOND and TH1RD, the player wins 2 times the original bet; otherwise the chips will be paid to the house. Figure 1 shows the areas called FIRST, SECOND and THIRD.
[0054] In a further embodiment, a player can also play/wager on outcomes in rows which run across the display or along columns which run up and down the display. . In figure 1 there are three columns from left to right and 13 rows from top to bottom. - i.e. the per ROW, which is shown in Appendix 1. If the player wins by playing per column, the player wins twice the original bet; otherwise the chips go to the house. The player can also play on multiple symbols at the same time. The display software can be arranged so that alternative display layouts are presented. Rows and columns or combinations of indicia can be illuminated according to player selections and interactions.
[0055] In practice, for the land based version, there will be multiple players who interact with the standard table or electronic display and a dealer who interacts with the roulette wheel. The table or display preferably has 37, 38 or other number of locations, which display 37, 38 or other number of numbers, symbols, characters, icons or any combinations of those. In one example of typical operation of the assembly, once the ball has landed on a symbol of the gaming wheel, a digital signal is sent to the table or the dealer announces and marks the winning location, which informs all players, which symbol the ball has landed on. In an on line version remote layers can also interact with the electronic displays.
[0056] The highlighted/winning symbol is either marked by the dealer, or lights up while all other symbols disappear and the highlighted/winning symbol becomes bigger while a sound is playing. The sounds emitted from the speakers attached to the may be tailored to requirements in each case.
[0057] Set out below is a table [TABLE 1] of non -limiting player betting options/examples and possible payouts:
TABLE 1
1 Games on a symbol generate 35 times the original bet;
2 Games on two symbols (split) generate 17 times the original bet;
3 Games on three symbols (line) generate 11 times the original bet ;
4 Games on four symbols (corner) generate 8 times the original bet;
5 Games of five symbols generate 6 times the original bet;
6 Games of six symbols generate 5 times the original bet;
7 Games on ROW (12 symbols - column) generate 2 times the original bet;
8 Games on FIRST, SECOND, or THIRD (12 symbols - box) generate 2 times the original bet;
9 Games on OVER or UNDER generate 1 times the original bet;
10 Games on BLACK or RED generate 1 times the original bet;
11 Games on econdary multi betting areas/fields generate twice the original bet.
A reference to symbols includes various other indicia as described herein.
[0058] Once bets/wagers are placed, the game begins by a dealer spinning the ball opposite the direction of the wheel spin. At an appropriate time, before the ball drops into a specific location the dealer or electronic table announces that NO MORE BETS can be made. [0059] Figure 4a-c shows a layout of one example of a display used to illustrate how three players can exercise bet options including multi betting secondary fields.
PLAYER 1
[0060] Referring to Figure 4a, there is shown a display apparatus 1 based on the template of figure 1 and including primary display field 5. Primary display 5 includes rows l3a-l and three columns 10, 11 and 12. Outside primary playing field 5 is a plurality of multi bet/wager secondary fields 6a-f and 7a-f. An example of player interaction with the display 1 will now be described according to a non - limiting embodiment. A Player 1 elects to wager $100 in a multi bet at location 6a. With one wager, player 1 selects via the shortcut of field 6a, twelve different symbols, icons, characters, numbers from the primary display 5 according to how display 5 is set up. Figure 4b shows hatched areas setting out a pattern of 12 symbols, icons etc., automatically selected in primary field 5 via the multi bet at secondary field 6 and more specifically at location 6a. In this example, should Player 1 win, Player 1 will receive 2 to 1 odds (see row l3m), for the original bet. ln play, the roulette ball falls on the golden star icon 50 of roulette wheel 2. Since the golden star 50 ( see figure 4a) was one of the selections in the Player 1 shortcut selections, Player 1 wins 2 to 1. In this example the win is $200 but subtracting the original wager of $100 the gain is $100. Player 1 has taken advantage of multi betting field 6a-f to select a pattern of numbers by placing a wager on location 6a outside the primary betting field 5. In the example shown any one of 12 multi betting fields ( 6a-f and 7a-f) can be selected by the player who wishes to wager conservatively with an increased chance of a lower order win of 2 to 1.
PLAYER 2
[0061] Referring to Figure 4b, a second player elects to place a wager of $50 on the gold star symbol/icon 50 in the fifth row 13e of first column 10. Figure 4c shows the wager highlighted with a circle around the gold star.
PLAYER 3
[0062] Player 3 elects to wager $200 on the black cat symbol/icon 60 on primary display 5 as shown in Figure 4c. This player has elected to bet on a symbol on primary display 5, an option which is not available on current roulette games. Since this wager has a low probability of a win, in the event of a win the player will received 35 times the original bet. Cat symbol 60 is illuminated and the bet of $200 is highlighted as shown in Figure 4b. In this example, the roulette wheel is spun and stops with gold star symbol 55 highlighted. As there is no match between symbol 55 on roulette wheel 2 and the cat symbol 60, player 3 has lost. In this case the loss will be the total of the original wager which was $200.
[0063] Figures 5a-f show and describe in more detail the type of playing field grids referred to in figures 3j and 3k. In each of the grid patterns 5a-f, there is provided a primary playing field 5 comprising columns 10, 11 and 12 and rows l3a-l as described earlier. In the embodiments of figures 5a-f, secondary ( side or multi) bet field 7 comprises betting areas 7a-f. In this case, secondary betting field 6 does not exist ( as was previously described in Figure 1 for instance).
[0064] Columns 10, 11 and 12 are populated with an array of symbols randomly distributed in separate boxes in primary playing filed 5. This enables the creation of many permutations and combinations of those symbols selected for betting purposes. Preferably, each multi bet location 7a-f is related to a particular predetermined or random pattern of symbols generated in playing field 1.
[0065] Each side bet 7 a-f each represent 12 pre -determined icons in a specific calculated and created patterns. For example a secondary bet at 7a has its own pattern and a secondary bet at 7b has its own pattern. Each pattern has 12 icons in total. Each column has four icons highlighted and each icons is not crossed more than twice. Playing field 5 is divided into three areas of 12 icons ( three columns 10, 11 and 12 and four rows l3a-d for instance. Likewise rows l3e-h form the second area and rows 13 i-l form the third area. Each of the three areas contain four icons distributed in arrays as shows in each of Figures 5a-f. Each box contains 4 icons, which doesn’t give the player any specific advantage or disadvantage but does provide faster play, a faster bet and more player excitement. Although 4 icons in each area is preferred, more or less icons could be pre -selected. In use, a player decides to place a in one of the multi or side bet areas 7a-f in the secondary playing filed 7. The bet is indicated by an X placed in side/multi bet area 7f. In choosing the specific box 7f marked with X, the player has chosen the 12 predicted icons (indicated by identical darkened circles). After spinning of roulette wheel 2, If the player wins, the odds are 2 to 1 which may be indicated in row l3m. There is no limitation on the odds for any particular bet.
[0066] Each of columns 10, 11 and 12 contain four of the total of twelve icons. In Figure 5b a player has laid a bet of any allowable amount in bet area 7e which displays another patterns indicated by the identical circles. Figures 5c-5f a player has wagered respectively in betting areas 7d-7a each indicated by an X.
[0067] In the above examples, which are described to show wagering options out of a potentially unlimited number of permutations and combinations of bets on the primary bet field 5 or multi bet fields 6a-f and 7a-f or both, a unique display is provided which has either symbols, icons or characters or a combination of any number of those along with numerals. In addition to this each player has the option of electing to wager on the secondary multi bet fields 6 and/or 7.
[0068] The assembly and game described herein, can be played live and in real time by selection of only one number, symbol, icon, character or the like using chips and a standard table or using interactive displays which may be operable by a touch screen or using chips on a digital display. The display on the display device is preferably laid out in a grid. The grid of symbols icons, numbers, characters, colours etc can form a variety of patters on which a player can wager. Generally, the lower number of symbols, icons, numbers, characters, colours selected, the higher the return on a win. Where a higher number of symbols or numbers etc are selected by a player the win return on the bet will generally be lower. A player may select an array of random numbers, symbols, icons, characters or the like which will be highlighted on the display. Alternatively, a grid pattern may be selected from a predetermined pattern by selection of one enabling box or location on the display. Locations are provided on the display to enable a multiple selection of a group or pattern by interacting with one screen display location.
[0069] The present invention provides an alternative to the known table games and increases versatility; win options, player enjoyment, player interaction. The grid shown in the examples described are non- limiting and it will be appreciated that a potentially unlimited number of grid patterns are contemplated.
[0070] It will be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that although the assembly has been primarily described with reference to a casino or gaming house table based game, the electronic table display arrangement described can be adapted for off line or on line game play including simulated play on the internet and held electronic devices such as an iphone, smart phone, ipad, computer, tablet, television, interactive device, smart television or a device integrating any two of the aforesaid electronic devices. The game feature according to the invention is also adaptable to a gaming machine. In each case the game rules may be altered to suit regulatory requirements or device capability.
[0071] It will be recognised by persons skilled in the art that numerous variations and modification may be made to the invention broadly described herein without departing from the overall spirit and scope of the invention.
