  • the circlip 4 which is a semi-flexible ring with open ends, is snapped into place inside a groove 7 on the rear side of the nut portion 2.
  • the circlip 4 secures the plate 3 in place, but still allows the plate 3 to rotate around the nut portion.
  • a kit may be provided comprising several different nut portions, each corresponding to a different bolt diameter and/ or a different thread count or thread pitch.
  • Each nut portion 2 would be connectable to a plate 3 using a circlip 4.

  • the diameter Y of the plate 3 must be larger than the across corners diameter, X, of the fastener 10 to enable the plate to prevent a wrench from falling away from the fastener 10.

  • the plate 3, for use with fasteners 10 of this size would typically have an diameter, Y, of approximately 80mm, meaning that the difference between the diameter Y of the plate 3 and the across corners diameter X of the fastener lies in the range 10mm to 49mm.
  • a hydraulic torque wrench 9 is shown set in position around a fastener 10 located on a bolt 11.
  • the apparatus 1 is assembled such that bore diameter and the internal thread 6 of nut portion 2 matches the thread 12 and diameter of the bolt 11.
  • the apparatus 1 is then threaded onto the bolt 11 and tightened by hand, such that the apparatus 1, and particularly the plate 3, is located immediately adjacent the hydraulic torque wrench 9.
  • the nut portion 2 is preferably provided with gripping elements 8 which help a user to hand tighten the apparatus 1 around the bolt 11.
  • Figure 6 illustrates the apparatus 1 in position adjacent the wrench 9.
  • the projections 5 of the plate 3 extend outwardly beyond the diameter of the fastener 10 and interfere with the wrench 9, preventing the wrench 9 from falling off the fastener.

  • a clip in the form of a keyring 16 is attached to the tab 15 through the hole 15a.

  • the clip 18 is a quick release clip and includes two sprung elements 18a, 18b.
  • the first spring element 18a provides for attachment of the clip 18 to the loop 17b, whilst the second spring element 18b provides for attachment of the clip 18 to another component, for example the torque wrench 9.
  • the advantage of providing a lanyard within the apparatus 1 is that the apparatus may be tethered to another component, thereby reducing the risk of the apparatus becoming lost or falling from a height, which may have potentially dangerous consequences.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un appareil pour fixer un outil à une attache sur un boulon, le boulon étant fileté et l'attache ayant un diamètre particulier. L'appareil comprend une partie écrou, un élément de fixation et des moyens pour fixer l'élément de fixation à l'écrou. La partie écrou présente un alésage à travers celle-ci et est pourvue d'un filetage interne correspondant au filetage du boulon. L'élément de fixation présente une ouverture à travers celui-ci et peut être relié à la partie écrou. Le diamètre de l'élément de fixation est plus grand que le diamètre de l'attache.
