Description

SHRINKABLE INJECTION CUSHION FOR INTRAOCULAR LENS Technical Area
This invention is related to a silicon cushion which provides placement of a lens without damaging the eye during eye surgeries.
Prior Art
Lens injectors have been used with the aim of lens implantation to the patient's eye during the eye surgeries in the prior art. The relevant lens injectors are consisting of body, plunger, silicon cushion and cartridge channel parts basically. Lens fitted in the body is pushed out with the aid of piston in the body and cartridge channel. In the systems used in the prior art, silicon cushion pushes the lens by stretching thus elongating in the cartridge channel. In present systems, the cushion has less ability to be flexible and elongate. Silicon cushion may be squeezed while the lens is being pushed. Silicon cushions press cartridge channel inner walls by squeezing especially in the cartridge channels and may deform cartridge channel. Pushing force which is required for transition of the lens through the cartridge increases due to the squeezing and pressure problems.
In present systems, transition of a lens in minimal incision sizes as 1.8 mm is hard and it is seen that lens is deformed because of the silicon cushion squeeze. Sometimes cartridge channel is deformed as a result of this pressure. In case of a too much squeezing of the silicone cushion, cartridge channel may be cracked, as for that any deformation in the cartridge channel may damage the lens.
In the United States document US20130226194A1, an injection system for intraocular lenses is mentioned. The system of the invention comprises basically; an injector, an intraocular lens cuttler and a lens holder container. As for that the relevant injector comprises an inject channel and a piston moving within the channel, a hollow that meets the cuttler. However, there is a cushion made of soft elastic material in front of the piston and moving in the channel. The cushion may be coated with a lubricant to reduce the friction effects in the channel. The relevant system and the cushion are insufficient in the matter of safe lens implantation.
In virtue of the cushion which is the subject of the invention, lens moves without squeezing in the cartridge channel, presses cartridge channel less and pushes the lens safely. Compared to the systems which have narrow incision size (eg 1.8 mm), it provides pushing of the lens with less pushing force safely.
Short Description of the Invention
The purpose of the invention is to realize an injector cushion which has a cushion that provides safe implantation of the lens without damage.
Another purpose of the invention is to realize a lens injector cushion that reduces pushing force which is applied to cartridge inner walls during the lens implantation.
Another purpose of the invention is to realize a lens injector cushion which reduces the force required for pushing the lens.
Another purpose of the invention is to realize a lens injector cushion which can be used for cartridges which have different cut intervals.

Parts in the figure are numbered and their correspondences are given below.
1. Lens injector cushion
11. Outer surface
12. Interior part G. Body
K. Cartridge channel
P. Plunger
Y. Cushion that belongs the prior art. Basically, at least one cushion which provides to proceed of the lens by elongating thus stretching along the movement of the plunger (P) due to geometries of the body (G) inner wall and cartridge channel (K) inner wall, in contact with a body (G) inner wall and a cartridge channel inner wall (K).
At least one outer surface (11) which provides gradual stretch thus elongation in the cartridge channel (K) inner wall and the body (G) inner wall with its narrowing geometry.
Comprises at least one inner part (12) which reduces compressive force occurs in the inner walls and ensures lens movement without squeezing by increasing amount of stretch and elongation in a narrowing part of the cartridge (K) channel inner wall and in the body (G) inner wall with its hollow structure.
The cushion which is the subject of the invention can move in the body and in the cartridge channel which is narrowing according to the body by means of its own outer surface and its inner part. Even in the cartridges which have small cut intervals it prevents deformation of the lens by pushing the lens safely.
Cushion diameter (1) can wane more in the cartridge channel (K) than can wane in the body (G) by means of the hollow interior part (12). Therefore, pressure which is done to the cartridge channel inner wall by the cushion while the cushion (2) passing through the cartridge channel (K) reduces. By means of the hollow interior part (12), it is provided that lens is delivered in the cartridge channel (K) without cushion (1) squeeze problem. By means of the improved cushion (1) that can elongate and stretch more in the cartridge channel, lens can be pushed safely in smaller diameters.
In one embodiment of the invention, gaps which are formed in different geometric shapes such as sphere, ellipsoid, cylinder, torus, cone, regular or irregular polygonal prism and curvilinear forms and other various shapes can be happen in the interior part (12). Outer surface (11) which is the subject of the invention has a narrowing geometry. This structure of the surface (11) provides cushion to (1) elongate and stretch gradually in the narrowing body (G) or cartridge channel (K) parts. By this way, cushion squeze problem is removed.
In one embodiment of the invention, the angle of inclination of the outer surface (12) can differ according to the geometry and (G) the body which its narrowing expansion regime that is used or cartridge channel dimensions (K).
In one embodiment of the invention, the cushion (1) is made of an elastic material, preferably silicone.
In one embodiment of the invention, the cushion (1) can be used in cartridge channels (K) with different cut intervals in virtue of the flexible structure of the material which is used for the production and hollow interior part that provide more stretching in the narrowing inner part (12).
