Abstract
An evaporative emissions control system configured to recapture and recycle emitted fuel vapor in a vehicle fuel tank having liquid fuel is normally powered by a primary power source and includes first and second vent tubes, first and second vent valves, a vent shut-off assembly, an alternate power source and a control module. The vent shut-off assembly selectively opens and closes the first and second valves. The alternate power source selectively powers the evaporative emissions control system. The control module regulates operation of the vent shutoff assembly. The control module (i) determines whether a power supplied by the primary power source is satisfactory; (ii) switches power supply from the primary power source to the alternate power source based on power being supplied by the primary power source being unsatisfactory, and (iii) operates the evaporative emissions control system in a power fail mode with the alternate power source.
