Description
WELDING MASK
FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
The present disclosure relates to welding equipment, and particularly to a welding mask.
BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE
When welding in an environment that is hazardous for the welder, a welding mask provided with an air supply is needed. The air is lead to the inside of the welding mask and it provides an over pressure to the inside of the welding mask. Usually such a welding mask comprises a face seal arranged between the shield and the user for preventing the air supplied to the welding mask from escaping and thus the over pressure from collapsing. Sometimes the face seal needs to be separated from the shield for example for washing the face seal or replacing a damaged face seal. This requires easy detachment of the face seal from the shield. However, the connection of the face seal to the shield needs to be strong enough for preventing accidental separation of the face seal from the shield for example due to the face seal getting caught to something and thus exposal of the welder to the hazardous environment. This is regulated by the standard SFS-EN 12941 . According to the standard, the connection between the face seal and the shield must withstand a pull force of 250 N in class TH 3, which is the strictest class in the standard.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DISCLOSURE
An object of the present disclosure is to provide a welding mask so as to solve fulfil the above requirements.
The objects of the disclosure are achieved by a welding mask which is characterized by what is stated in the independent claims. The preferred embodiments of the disclosure are disclosed in the dependent claims.
The disclosure is based on the idea of providing a welding mask comprising a shield, wherein
the shield comprises an outer layer and an inner layer arranged at least partly parallel to each other and at a distance from each other for defining a space between the outer layer and the inner layer;
at least one of the outer layer and the inner layer is made of flexible material; and the outer layer or the inner layer comprises a plurality of parts of a snap fastener arranged to the space for connecting with a plurality of corresponding parts of a snap fastener
comprised in an edge part of a face seal arranged to the space parallel with the outer layer and the inner layer.
An advantage of welding mask of the disclosure is that because the snap fasteners are arranged between the outer layer and the inner layer, the layers direct a force directed to the face seal to a transverse direction in relation to the snap fastener, and thus a pull from the face seal would not result in separation of the corresponding parts of a snap fastener in a face seal from the parts of a snap fastener in the shield. At the same time the face seal can be separated from the shield by detaching the snap fasteners manually.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
In the following the disclosure will be described in greater detail by means of preferred embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which
Figure 1 is a welding mask according to an embodiment; and
Figure 2 illustrates a face seal usable with a welding mask according to an embodiment.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DISCLOSURE
The disclosure relates to a welding mask 1 comprising a shield 1 1 . The welding mask could also be known as a welding helmet. The purpose of the shield is to protect the user from splatter and heat generated during welding.
The shield 1 1 comprises an outer layer 1 1 1 and an inner layer 1 12 arranged at least partly parallel to each other and at a distance from each other for defining a space 1 13 between the outer layer 1 1 1 and the inner layer 1 12. In other words the inner layer 1 12 is arranged between the outer layer 1 1 1 and the user when the welding mask 1 is worn by the user. The space 1 13 may also be regarded as a groove between the outer layer 1 1 1 and the inner layer 1 12. The purpose of the space 1 13 or the groove is to receive a face seal 12 partially to the space 1 13.
According to an embodiment the face seal is made of fabric.
The outer layer 1 1 1 or the inner layer 1 12 comprises a plurality of parts 1 14 of a snap fastener arranged to the space 1 13 for connecting with a plurality of corresponding parts 122 of a snap fastener comprised in an edge part 121 of the face seal 12 arranged to the space 1 13 parallel with the outer layer 1 1 1 and the inner layer 1 12. In other words the face seal 12 is attached to the shield 1 1 with the snap fasteners. The parts 1 14 and the corresponding parts 122 of a snap fastener are arranged to from such an attachment between the shield 1 1 and the face seal 12 that requires a force transversal to the outer layer 1 1 1 or to the inner layer 1 12, depending on where the parts 1 14 of a snap fastener
are arranged, to attach and release. In other words the parts 1 14 and the corresponding parts 122 are arranged such that a force parallel to the outer layer 1 1 1 or to the inner layer 1 12, depending on where the parts 1 14 of a snap fastener are arranged, is not sufficient to attach or release the parts 1 14 to/from the corresponding parts 122 of a snap fastener. According to an embodiment the plurality of parts 1 14 of a snap fastener are attached to the inner layer 1 1 1 .
According to an embodiment the distance between the outer layer 1 1 1 and the inner layer 1 12, i.e. the width of the groove, is between 3 to 10 mm. Preferably the distance between the outer layer 1 1 1 and the inner layer 1 12 is arranged to allow attaching of the parts 1 14 of a snap fastener to the corresponding parts 122. The precise distance between the outer layer 1 1 1 and the inner layer 1 12 depends on the size of the parts 1 14 and the corresponding parts 122 of a snap fastener.
At least one of the outer layer 1 1 1 and the inner layer 1 12 is made of flexible material. Because of this the distance between the outer layer 1 1 1 and the inner layer 1 12 can be temporarily made bigger, thus allowing attaching of the face seal 12 to the shield 1 1 1 . In other words, at least one of the outer layer 1 1 1 or the inner layer 1 12 needs to be bent away from the other for increasing the distance between the outer layer 1 1 1 and the inner layer 1 12 when attaching the face seal 12 to the shield 1 1 . According to an embodiment the outer layer 1 1 1 is made of flexible material and the inner layer 1 12 is made of flexible material. According to an embodiment the flexible material is plastic.
