Cette poignée permet, en utilisant des éléments photoluminescents d'éclairage de diverses couleurs, d'identifier une porte dans des conditions de visibilité limitée, par exemple de manière analogue aux lumières d'évacuation dans le passage de la cabine d'un avion, et permet dans des bâtiments et des locaux à visibilité limitée de distinguer par un éclairage en lumière verte le chemin vers la sortie et, par un éclairage en lumière rouge, de prévenir l'emprunt d'un chemin non sûr.
