Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an anatomical pad or bottom for cycling pants and a method for obtaining said pad or bottom.
  • the bottom or pad for cycling pants is a shock- absorbing structure applied to the cyclist's pants that is configured to protect the pelvic area of the rider from impacts and vibrations.
  • pad or bottom means a shock-absorbing sandwich structure composed of a shaped expanded foam coated externally with suitable breathable materials, which is applied to the cyclist's pants.
  • the present invention relates to a bottom having a shock- absorbing structure constituted by a sandwich body made of soft material, for example made of a fabric coupled to an expanded foam, shaped like a "cone" in order to adhere perfectly to the anatomical conformation of the pelvic area of the rider and of the bicycle's saddle, thus increasing the comfort of the cyclist during use.
  • the "cone"-shaped expanded foam only allows a partial fitting to the anatomical configuration of the pelvic area of the rider, because the longest base of the "cone”-shaped expanded foam (which is arranged towards the inside of the pants), in order to fit the bicycle seat, has to bend in a direction opposite to the shaped side of the expanded foam, thus creating a step or a superposition of materials that cause irritation to the cyclist's skin due to the friction of the bottom coupled to the pants on the saddle while pedaling and therefore during the driving of the bicycle.
  • the fitting of the bottom coupled to the pants does not cause a snug fit to the shape of the saddle's surface, thus causing the need of continuous lodging of the pants in the pelvic part by the rider with danger of skidding and/or falls.

  • Another object of the present invention is to provide an anatomical bottom for cyclist's pants, which has a stable position in the pelvic area of the user during the cycling, and, moreover, which also maintains a comfort action of the expanded foam inserted between two breathable fabrics, allowing the pants a longer life and use.

  • the figures 3A and 3B show how, by using the new method according to the invention and, in particular, by implementing the new constructive phases C, D and E, it is possible to obtain a sandwich structure of the bottom 10B, in which the side bending angles 15 follow the shaping angle of the expanded sponge or foam 13B, thus allowing a perfect fitting to the pelvic area 2 of the cyclist and a perfect fit to the shape of the bicycle's saddle 16, thus removing folds or steps that cause the above mentioned drawbacks.
