Description

TITLE OF THE INVENTION
CARRIER FOR A ROLLED-UP ARTICLE
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[001] The invention relates to a carrier, more particularly to a carrier for a rolled-up article.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[002] Articles such as yoga mats, exercise mats, are bulky and cumbersome to carry around. However, some practitioners prefer to use their personal mats and thus have to carry their mats.
[003] One common type of bag/carrier for such mats is a cylindrical bag which encloses a rolled-up mat in entirety i.e. from all sides. While the bag provides portability to the mats, the bag is bulky and further adds to the weight of the mat. Further, enclosing a mat which has been recently used, and has been in contact with sweat or oil does not allow the mat to dry resulting in the bag and/or the mat to smell, which is undesirable.
[004] Accordingly, there is a need for a carrier which addresses at-least the above mentioned problem.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[005] In one aspect the invention provides, a carrier for a rolled-up article. The carrier comprising a carrier body extending between opposing edges and having an outer side and an inner side, the carrier body capable of being wrapped around the rolled-up article such that the inner side abuts the rolled-up article and opposing edges of the carrier body are positioned in a confronting relation, at-least one fastener provided on the carrier body adjacent to at-least one of the opposing edges of the carrier body for fastening the opposing edges of the carrier body positioned in the confronting relation and thereby holding the rolled-up article wrapped within the carrier body, and an anti-slip material provided in part or all of the inner side of the carrier body for restraining movement of the rolled-up article wrapped within the carried body.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[006] Reference will be made to embodiments of the invention, examples of which may be illustrated in accompanying figures. These figures are intended to be illustrative, not limiting. Although the invention is generally described in context of these embodiments, it should be understood that it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention to these particular embodiments.
Figure 1 shows an outer-side of a carrier in accordance with an embodiment of the invention.
Figure 2 shows an inner-side of the carrier in accordance with an embodiment of the invention.
Figure 3 shows the carrier with a rolled-up article in accordance with an embodiment of the invention.
Figure 4 illustrates a person with the carrier with the rolled-up article in accordance with an embodiment of the invention. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[007] The present invention is directed towards a carrier for a rolled-up article, which is convenient to carry, light-weight, easy to wrap around a rolled-up article of varying diameters, provides sufficient support and grip to the rolled-up article and keeps the rolled- up article exposed to ambient air.
[008] Figure 1 through 3 shows a carrier 100 for a rolled-up article 300 in accordance with an embodiment of the invention. The carrier comprises a carrier body 1 10, a pair of fasteners 120, and a strap 130.
[009] The carrier body extends between opposing edges and as shown in figure 1 and 2 has an outer-side and an inner-side. The carrier body is made of a flexible and/or a stretchable material, and is capable of being wrapped around the rolled-up article as shown in figure 3. The flexible and/or stretchable material allows the carrier body to be wrapped around rolled-up articles of varying circumferences/diameters. In this regard, when the carrier body is wrapped around the rolled-up article, the inner side abuts the rolled-up article and opposing edges of the carrier body are positioned in a confronting relation, thereby wrapping and holding the rolled-up article as shown in figure 3. Further, the carrier body wraps the rolled-up article such that rolled-up article remains exposed from at-least the sides. Such exposure allows the rolled-up article to be exposed to air and sun while being carried. Further, a cord or piping 12 is provided along each edge of the carrier body. The cord or piping along the edges of the carrier body enables the carrier body to hold its shape, and also makes it easy to lay the carrier body open on a flat surface.
[010] As shown in figure 1 , on the outer-side, the carrier body includes the fastener and the strap. The fastener is provided adjacent to at least one of the opposing edges of the outer side of the carrier body. Accordingly, when the carrier body is wrapped around the rolled-up article, the opposing edges having the fastener confront each-other, and the fastener fastens or secures the confronting opposing edges of the carrier body, thereby wrapping and holding the rolled-up article as shown in figure 3. As shown in the figure, the fastener is a buckle mechanism. The buckle mechanism has a male member 122 and a female member 124, each of the male member and the female member provided or adapted to the carrier, body via strap members 126. The strap members of the fastener could also include any expandable/stretchable fiber material, such as elastane or lycra, which allows the strap member to easily expand and contract as the circumference of the rolled-up article changes. This eliminates the need to constantly adjust the strap member. While it is illustrated in figure 3 that the fastener is a buckle mechanism, other fasteners such as hook and loop, or a button or a string or a pair of strings, or any such mechanism that enables two sides to fasten around the article can also be used.
[01 1] Further, as shown through the figures, the strap is on the outer-side of the carrier body allowing the carrier to be hung over a user's shoulder as shown in figure 4 for carrying the rolled-up article. The strap preferably is provided adjacent to the fastener such that the strap when in use does not tug or pull the carrier body, preventing the carrier body from loosening its grip on the rolled-up article. The strap is an adjustable strap allowing the strap to be adjusted as per requirement for comfortably carrying the carrier along with the rolled-up article. Furthermore, the carrier includes at-least one pocket for storing accessories, belongings, etc. As shown in figure 1 , a pocket 1 16 is provided on the outer- side of the carrier body. [012] As shown in figure 2, the inner-side of the carrier body is provided with an anti-slip material 1 14 in part or on all of the inner-side. The anti-slip material can be a layer or a coating applied along the inner side of the carrier body. Alternately, the inner-side can be made entirely of an anti-slip material. As shown in figure 2, the anti-slip material is preferably provided/applied at-least along center of the inner-side of the carrier body. However, the anti-slip material can be applied on the inner-side in entirety or in parts or in different patterns. The anti-slip material acts as a frictional surface between the carrier and the rolled-up article, thereby restraining movement of the rolled-up article which is wrapped and held by the carrier body. Accordingly, the carrier can hold and carry the rolled-up article even vertically as shown in figure 4. The anti-slip material or layer or coating provided/applied to the inner-side of the carrier body can be any of a natural or synthetic rubber/latex or silicon or any such material that would provide the desired friction to the enclosed article.
[013] In an embodiment of the invention, the carrier can be made of natural yarns/fibers. Natural fibers can be selected from any of cotton, flax, hemp, coconut, bamboo, jute, banana, wool, silk and any other plant or animal sourced fibers. Further, the carrier can be dyed with natural dyes as per requirement. Use of natural fibers and dyes makes the carrier chemical free and environment friendly. Alternately, the carrier can also be made of synthetic yarns/fibers such as polyester, nylon or any other fibers and also be dyed with synthetic dyes.
[014] In another embodiment, the carrier body can be made of natural yarns/fibers and/or coated natural yarns/fibers. Alternately, the carrier body can be made of synthetic yarns/fibers and/or coated synthetic yarns/fibers. In this context the coated yarns are yarns coated with anti-slip materials such as rubber, latex and the like. Such a combination of yarns used for the carrier body imparts an anti-slip property i.e. anti-slip material is provided to the carrier, thereby enabling the carrier to grip the rolled-up article.
[015] In an example application, the carrier can be used for carrying rolled-up mats such as yoga mat, meditation mat, child mat, sunbathing mat, beach mat, massage mat or any other mat. In this regard, the mat is first rolled up and thereafter placed in the carrier. On placing the rolled-up mat in the carrier, carrier is simply wrapped around the rolled-up mat, and the fastener is adjusted and closed. The anti-slip layer on the inner-side restrains any movement of the rolled-up mat allowing the rolled-up mat to be carried even vertically without slipping out of the carrier. Further, the mat extending beyond the second pair of parallel edges, while being held by the carrier, is also exposed to the air or sun, and thereby obviating the problems associated with carrying mats that have been in contact with sweat or oil in enclosed bags.
[016] While the present invention has been -described with respect to certain embodiments, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes and modification may be made without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the following claims.
