Abstract

The present invneiton provides a novel nucleotide sequence represented by Seq ID No.1 encoding 7-dehydrocholesterol reductase (7-DHCR), recombinant DNA constructs and recombinant micro-organisms carrying the said nucleotide sequence. Further, the present invention relates to a process for the production of 7-DHC in the presence of a recombinant 7-DHCR and its application in the synthesis of vitamin D3.
