Description
LINEAR AMMUNITION MAGAZINE
Technical field
Subject of the invention is a linear ammunition magazine intended for devices without a lock loading bullets to the ammunition chamber.
Background art
A starter's gun intended in particular for signalling the commencement of competitions during sports events, containing a handle and a magazine with bullets placed in a chamber situated parallel or nearly parallel to the barrel and with a sliding hammer placed in the handle and covered with a guide connected on one side with the handle and on the other side with the end of the chamber, wherein the hammer is connected with a cam with an end extending in the bullet chamber is known from the Polish patent specification no. PL 185503 B1 .
Also known are ammunition magazines in the form of round drums with sockets in which bullets are placed. On account of their construction such magazines have limited capacity.
Disclosure of Invention
The aim of the invention is a linear ammunition magazine in which reloading does not require movement of the bullet and which at the same time ensures the stability of bullet feeding.
The magazine according to the invention is equipped with a slide bar in which there are at least two bullet slots with axes perpendicular to the direction of the movement of the bar. It is characterized in that it is equipped with a lifter composed of a blocking diameter 2*R1 and with one to three cogs with a diameter
of 2*r, wherein in the case of a lifter with two or three cogs, they are placed in equal distances in relation to each other and in the cross section of the bar there are first notches shaped like sections of the wheel and with outlines reflecting the blocking diameter of the lifter. The first notches of the slide bar are placed in relation to each other exactly as the individual bullet slots. Between the first notches of the bar there are second notches situated in the middle of the distances between subsequent first notches, wherein the second notches are U- or D- shaped and their dimensions, with appropriate operating clearance, reflect the diameter of the lifter cog.
Brief Description of Drawings
The subject of the invention is presented in the exemplary embodiment on the drawing in which Fig.1 shows the longitudinal section of the magazine according to the invention and Fig. 2 shows an axonometric projection of parts of the magazine.
Mode for Carrying out Invention
The exemplary linear ammunition magazine 1 is equipped with a slide bar 2 in which there are at least two bullet slots 3 with axes perpendicular to the direction of slide bar 2 movement. The magazine 1 is equipped with a lifter 4 composed of a blocking diameter 2*R1 and of one to three cogs with a diameter of 2*r, whereby in the case of a lifter 4 with two or three cogs, they are placed in equal distances in relation to each other. In the cross section of the bar 2 there are first notches 5 shaped like sections of the wheel and with outlines reflecting the blocking diameter of the lifter 4. The first notches 5 of the slide bar 4 are placed in relation to each other exactly as the individual bullet slots 3. Between the first notches 5 of the slide bar 2 there are second notches 6 situated in the middle of the distances between subsequent first notches 5. The second notches 6 are U- or D-shaped and their dimensions (a), with appropriate operating clearance, reflects the diameter (2*r) of lifter 4 cog. The described magazine has been made of toughened steel covered with Tenifer-type coating.
The magazine according to the invention, being a series of bullet chambers, is an alternative solution for the traditional loading of a bullet from the magazine to the bullet chamber. It is a linear version of the revolver magazine. Utilization of such
magazine facilitates the construction of a device driven by gunpowder gas energy. This type of magazine may be reloaded (slid) mainly with use of shaped methods or lifters. These are mainly traditional toothed wheels or with other types teeth. These mechanisms do not always guarantee a reliable retention of the magazine in place during a shot or during moving with the device through severe conditions. The principle of operation of the magazine reloading mechanism according to the invention is very close to the operation of a Maltese cross drive, being a classic example of a positioning mechanism. The difference consists in that the described mechanism is a linear and not a revolving mechanism. One revolution of the lifter causes movement by one scale (distance between bullet slots). Through more than 180 degrees of the lifter rotation the magazine does not move. Only when the lifter enters the operating range the movement takes place. This guarantees that even if more than exactly one rotation of the lifter takes place, the magazine stays in an appropriate position.
