Abstract
Protective head-rest attached to a pillow which comprises a cushioned body attached to a lateral side of a pillow, wherein the cushioned body is capable of being extended outwardly to form an angle nearly perpendicular to the horizontal plane of the pillow, and wherein the cushioned body so attached is capable of being anchored at the said angle, and wherein the cushioned body is of suitable thickness to provide protection to the cranial part of a user.
Description
A PROTECTIVE HEAD-REST
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to the field of protective head -rest attached to a pillow.
1. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Neck and back pain are one of the few consequences of wrong pillow choice. In order to maintain neck at right position, it is important to use a pillow that encases the head correctly without exerting pressure on the neck. Use of wrong pillow has been known to trigger already existing pain in shoulders and back.
In the present art, there is a need for protective head-rest attached to a pillow to provide support to the head with an extendable feature, while providing a pleasant appearance to the pillow.
The present invention in its various embodiments addresses the above problems and by providing protective headrests for pillow
2. OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The object of the invention is to provide a protective head-rest or a head-guard to the cranial portion of the user, such that, the user avoids accidental collision of the head portion or cranial portion of the user to the wall, or any hard surface present near the user's head portion or cranial portion, wMst in the lying position
3. SUMMARY
The present invention in a preferred embodiment provides a protective head-rest attached to a pillow which comprises a cushioned body attached to a lateral side of a pillow, wherein the cushioned body is capable of being extended outwardly to form an angle equal nearly perpendicular to the horizontal plane of the pillow, and wherein the cushioned body so attached is capable of being anchored at the said angle, and wherein the cushioned body is of suitable thickness to provide protection to the cranial part of a user.

In an embodiment of the invention, the cushioned body may be fixed permanently to the lateral side of the pillow.

It is to be noted that while the present invention has been discussed predominantly in reference to utility for protection of head or cranial portion of the user, the head-rest may have useful application as sitting back-rest, for example, in conditions where a user desires comfortable back-rest while in sitting posture and in which pressure or contact with a hard surface or a wall would cause considerable discomfort or pain or even damage to the user's body. It is believed obvious that the head-rest of the aforesaid invention hasinvention has utility in a variety of applications requiring support to the body.
When the user desires to utilize the head-rest of the present invention to support the neck or head or back portion, the user may merely change to any position user desires, without the necessity of raising himself to manipulate the main pillow body or to change the position of the head-rest thereof

In an embodiment of the present invention, the cushioned body remains firmly attached in a vertical manner to the pillow while user is lying on the pillow.

13. Claims:
1. A protective head rest attached to a piHow providing protection to the cranial portion of the user, the said headrest comprising a cushioned body attached to a lateral side of the piHow, the said cushioned body is capable of being extended outwardly to form an angle nearly perpendicular to the horizontal plane of the said piHow, the said cushioned body so attached is capable of being anchored at the said angle, the said cushioned body is of suitable thickness to provide protection to the cranial part of a user.
2. The protective head rest of claim 1, wherein the cushioned body can be optionally detached from the piHow.
3. The protective head rest of claim 1, wherein the cushioned body can be fixed permanently to the lateral side of the piHow.
4. The protective head rest of claim 1, wherein the cushioned body and piHow can be of any suitable shape or size.
5. The protective head rest of claim 1, wherein the cushioned body and piHow can be of any suitable material.
6. The protective head rest of claim 1, wherein the cushioned body and piHow can be inflatable.
7. The protective head rest of claim 1, where in the cushioned body decorated with such as but not limited to a figure, geometry, a shape, a picture, displayed by method of molding, sewing or other manufacturing methods .
8. The protective head rest of claim 1, wherein the angle of the cushioned body to the horizontal plane of the pillow when extended outwardly does not exceed 280 degrees.
9. The protective head rest of claim 1, wherein the mid plane or plane surface of the pillow and the cushioned body may be the surfaces; it may not necessarily be a plane in pillow.
10. The protective head rest of claim 1, wherein the cushioned body may be folded over the pillow.
1. The protective head rest of claim 1, wherein the cushioned body may be attached or fixed to the pillow using fastening components such as but not limited to velcro, buttons, hooks, pins, zippers, or any combinations thereof.
