- the vending machine includes a merchant code, which the customer uses to make the payment. When the vending machine receives notification that payment has been successful, the customer can make their selection and purchase the item.
- An alternative implementation may provide the vending machine with an interface to request and display transaction codes.
- Payers can pay payees quickly and easily via a short reference code - this avoids the need to type in long account numbers which is cumbersome and prone to mistakes.

- the method of the present invention does not require intermediate accounts having a "float" of money and settlement between various intermediate accounts. Instead, payments flow directly from payer, to intermediate account, to payee.
- the system under the present invention also provides a convenient way to refund payments. Payers can feel comfortable making payments under the present invention as they use their own banking systems which they known and trust.

Abstract
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil pour faciliter des paiements d'une pluralité de payeurs à une pluralité de bénéficiaires au moyen d'un dispositif de commande. Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant, pour le dispositif de commande, à : associer, à chaque bénéficiaire, des informations concernant un compte d'institution financière bénéficiaire et au moins un code de paiement. Le dispositif de commande surveille des comptes d'institution financière en ce qui concerne une réception de paiement et des codes de paiement et envoie une notification au bénéficiaire lors de la réception des paiements.
