Le module d'extension pour la commande d'installations industrielles selon l'invention comprend une première interface pour l'échange de données de commande avec un système informatique mobile et une seconde interface pour l'échange de données de commande avec l'installation industrielle au moyen d'une liaison sans fil conforme aux normes industrielles, ainsi qu'au moins un bouton d'arrêt d'urgence et une unité de commande destinée à convertir les données de commande échangées au niveau des première et seconde interfaces et à générer une instruction de commande permettant le déclenchement d'un arrêt de l'installation industrielle pour raison de sécurité en cas d'actionnement du bouton d'arrêt d'urgence. Un module d'extension prévu selon l'invention permet avantageusement une mise en oeuvre d'un système informatique mobile de commercialisation courante pour la commande d'installations, système dont la conformité à un environnement industriel, qui fait défaut par nature, est établie au moyen d'un module d'extension.
