Abstract

An electric water heater using lightwave heating and having a pressure adjustment function. A water tank 8 is made from blow-molded or injection molded non-metallic material or from metallic material. A pressure adjuster 12 is provided on the water inlet conduit of the water tank. The pressure adjuster is formed by a housing (12-1), a piston (12-2), a cap (12-3), and a rubber element (12-4). The position of the piston (12-2) inside of the housing (12-1) changes in step with changes in the pressure inside of the water tank (8). The heating method utilized in the water tank (8) involves disposing a halogen or carbon fiber lightwave heating element (6) in the air (18) inside a stainless steel tube (17), which allows for water (19) to be heated without contacting the heating element.
