Abstract

A method of utilizing carbon monoxide to increase oil recovery includes methods of injecting an effective amount of carbon monoxide into an oil reservoir. The carbon monoxide increases oil flow from the oil reservoir through a variety of chemical mechanisms. An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a method of injecting an effective amount of carbon monoxide into an oil reservoir. The carbon monoxide increases oil flow from the oil reservoir through a variety of chemical mechanisms, which in turn also increases a total amount of oil recovered.
