Definitions
- This patent application refers to an invisible implantable respiratory prosthesis which is intended to bring air from the back of the nose to the rhinopharynx through deep planes of the neck to the trachea or even the hypopharynx.
- This heated, purified and humidified air is necessary for the treatment of sleep apnea, snoring and pharyngeal or laryngeal stenosis.
- This prosthesis enables a surgery created by the patent applicant, which aims to solve severe problems of sleep apnea, pharynx and larynx stenosis, which affects thousands of people worldwide and which, until then, has been treated with clinical, surgical and other treatments, with very ineffective results that leave much to be desired.
- TECHNICAL STATUS At present there are external devices intended to assist in respiration and inhibition of apnea, however implantable prosthetic devices are not known, or do not exist.
- the present respiratory prosthesis that carries air from the nose to the trachea or hypofannge through the deep planes of the neck has no any similar on the market being used for the first time in performing an unprecedented surgery, created and described by the applicant of that patent application.
- the present Respiratory Prosthesis was developed to bring air from the nose to the trachea or hypopharynx through a deep plane of the neck that carries the air that passed through the nostrils, already benefiting from the purification process.
- humidification and preheating, or conditioning which would be the function of the nasa ⁇ mucosa, going through the deep pianos of the neck to its penetration into the trachea, residing beneath the skin and being totally invisible. Therefore, this present modality of prosthesis described herein does not depend on any special care, or even, it does not depend on any care, and may simply reside permanently implanted, or for as long as desired.
- the Respiratory Prosthesis to bring air from the nose to the trachea or hypopharynx through the deep neck plane, currently described, serves to bring air from the back of the nose, ie from the rhinopharynx to the trachea or even to the trachea.
- the hypopharynx consists basically of a cylindrical tube with two open ends, the first end being approximately twice the diameter of the tube. At the lower end of this end is a wall 1f which is 1/4 the diameter of that widest part of the pipe to prevent secretion from entering the pipe, leaving the other 3/4 of the air outlet opening out of the chokes free. toward the trachea.
- the tube starts to bend 1c about 90 degrees to the exit of the rhinopharynx tube in the deep plane of the neck towards the trachea, near the other end of the tube there is another bend 1d also more or less. 90 degrees to facilitate its introduction into the trachea under the skin during surgery.
- the wider end of the tube may have various shapes such as cylindrical, rectangular, square, oval and other shapes to fit into the always irregularly shaped rhinopharynx.
- the prosthesis must be made of medical grade, malleable, non-collapsible biocompatible material such as elastomers such as silicone, elastomers and their composites, and other similar materials having the same properties as polymers. and their composites, titanium, titanium alloy, stainless steel, surgical steel and other alloys, ceramics and composites, rubbers and their composites and the like of all the aforementioned materials.
- the extremity of the malarial prosthesis may also be placed in any position of one or both nasal cavities, from the choana to the nasal vestibule.
- each tube To be placed in both nasal passages the tube must be divided into two forming a Y and each part enters a choana, before the end each tube has a curvature of about 90 degrees facing down towards the nasal floor.
- Fig. 1 - represents a front view of the prosthesis.
- Fig. 1 A - side view.
- FIG. 2 Front view of the illustrated rectangular prosthesis
- the prosthesis consists of a cylindrical tube with an end about twice the diameter of the tube, which end may be cylindrical or rectangular or square to best fit behind the nose in the non-regular rhinopharyngeal, that end is open 1 F at its upper portion for passage of air out of the nasal passages, the lower portion of the same opening has a wall 1 G to prevent secretion from entering the pipe, with only heated and purified humidified air entering the upper part of the opening.
- a first 1C bend of about 90 degrees to guide the tube in the deep plane of the neck toward the trachea, where it, the tube forms another 1D bend also of about 90 degrees. to enter the opening of the trachea under the skin.
- Another prosthesis with the same purpose or function has, at one end, a bifurcation of the Y-tube, forming two tube legs, each having a curvature of about 90 degrees so that the open end of each tube within the pits Nasal is facing down towards the floor of the nose so no secretion but only air. These ends can be placed inside the nasal passages in any position from the vestibule to the choanae. It is an option of the first prosthesis.
