Abstract

The application relates to a self-propelled device (10) for ground preparation, comprising a motor-driven carrier vehicle (14), which is formed by a road roller (12) or another self-propelled motor vehicle and which has a plurality of separate compacting apparatuses (32, 38) for ground stabilization and/or ground compaction, which compacting apparatuses are arranged on the carrier vehicle (14) at the front and/or at the rear and/or laterally. At least one of the compacting apparatuses (32, 38) is formed by a hydraulically operated plate compactor (34, 40), a hydraulic drive of which is fed by at least one hydraulic pump (44), which is driven by an internal-combustion-engine traction drive of the carrier vehicle (12) and is coupled to said traction drive. The internal combustion engine (48) of the traction drive and the hydraulic pump (44) coupled thereto can be operated in at least two different operating modes for applying a high or reduced driving power for the traction drive and the compacting apparatuses. The invention further relates to a corresponding method for operating a self-propelled device (10) for ground preparation.
