Description

TECHNICAL FIELD:
This invention relates generally to a fastener clip. More particularly, the invention relates to a fastener clip device for fastening reference books in an office file just like any other paper documents.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION: In all industries file folders and folder clips are inevitable consumables. Documents are either clipped or punched and inserted. Magazines, brochures and catalogues are usually placed in pouches provided in some folder files or in punched pockets which are usually very thin and of larger size. However, magazines or books of varying sizes cannot be filed with the same ease and also cannot be referred in the same manner as like paper documents. Most books are either bigger or smaller for the punched pockets. Hence most offices use separate boxes to keep the reference books. Disadvantage is that book will have to be kept separately from relevant or connected documents and cannot be referred as easily as any other paper documents. In conventional system, there are a few devices available for holding books. United States Patent No. 6527300 to Moss et al entitled 'Holding device for a book or binder' relates to a device for holding a book or binder. The device comprises U-shaped or J-shaped clip which is attached to top and bottom of the outside surface of the spine or backbone of a book and a pair of strips attached to the legs of the clips which are mated using fasteners present in the strip. This prior art specifically focusing on holding the book and there is no method disclosed for secure filing of the book
United States Patent No. 7510215 to Lee et al entitled 'Book grip' deals with a book grip which allows an opened book to be easily held by one hand and conveniently read. It has got an upper grip body which is formed with a second support projection and slidably inserted into a rectangular lower grip body with a first support projection. A string is used to fasten between the first and second support projections, and a handle is provided to the rear surface of the lower grip body. It provides an easy access for reading the book, but no means for arranging as a file along with other documents. The device cannot be altered or adjusted according to the book's varying sizes in length or width wise and alternate pages in the book cannot be flapped for reference simultaneously in the same manner as paper documents.
Devices like thickness-adjustable paper clip or paper binding fastener as revealed in Patent and Publication Nos. CN203077901 , US501 3 8, US4 74910 and US5937485 can be adjusted in a variety of different lengths for use with different sizes of paper through bolt-nut / spring / holes in the clip for inserting laces for securing the clip with the file. Still then, these size alterable paper clips cannot be used for books or magazines holding. Considering all the above drawbacks, the present invention provides a device holding books or magazines of different sizes and it can be fastened on to a lace file, ring binders, metal spring file or snake clips, lever arch files or box files etc., as like paper documents. Another advantage of the invention is that magazines or books can be read or referred even when it is fastened on to the folder files. DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION:
The present invention relates to a new device for fastening reference books in a usual office file as like other paper documents maintained to a file. A new file book fastener clip is introduced for filing any books in a file for referring the book more easily.
According to one embodiment, the aluminium office file book fastener clip of the present invention consists of channel provided with holes for inserting laces in a lace file or arch in a lever arch clip or metal spring in a snake clip. It has got two book holder arms capable of being attached to the main body / channel and two nut and bolts for securing it.
According to another embodiment, book holder arms are loaded with springs so that it can be easily inserted into the books from the side without operating the nut and bolt. For inserting the laces in a lace file or arch in a lever arch clip or metal spring in a snake clip a separate tab with holes is provided to the channel.
The device of the present invention can be made of any suitable material, such as metal or moulded plastic.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS: To assist with understanding the invention, reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings, which show one example of the invention.
FIG. 1 shows one side of the office file book fastener clip according to this invention FIG. 2 shows the other side of office file book fastener clip according to this invention FIG. 3 shows the book holder arm in one side of the office file book fastener clip FIG. 4 shows the book holder arm in other side of the office file book fastener clip FIG. 5 shows the application of such office file book fastener clip
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION: Embodiments of the invention relate to a device of fastener clip used for filing books or magazines to a common file similar to filing of paper documents.
Referring to the drawings, and in particular to Fig.1 , the office file book fastening clip 1 comprises of a channel 2 having 0.22m length & 0.011 m width with a pair of holes 3 and 3a of 2.5 mm diameter capable of inserting laces in a lace file or arch of a lever arch clip or the like. A pair of elongated holes 4 and 4a of 4mm width and 0.045m length are provided 1.8mm away from the holes 3 and 3a for moving the book holder arms 5 and 5a upwards and downwards to fit books of various size into it and a pair of handle bolts 6 and 6a to adjust and fix the above mentioned arms in place. Each book holder arms 5 and 5a has one folded member / tab each 9 and 9a at the inner curve of the arms so as to prevent the leaves of the book from getting damaged or folded. FIG. 2 shows the other side of the office file book fastening clip. It can be seen that the longer portion of book holder arms are inserted into the channel / metal fold of 3mm of the 95 profile and fixed in place by a square head screw 8 and 8a which perfectly fits within the channel 7. The size of the square head 8 and 8a is 5mm and length of the screw is 7mm.
FIG. 3 & 4 show the book holder arm of 0.09m long in both sides of the office file book fastener clip. The width of the longer portion which is inserted into the channel of the profile
100 is 9mm. The width of the inner corner / curve of the arm is 3 mm and the length of the book holding portion of the arm 5 / 5a is 0.04 m long from the inner curve and 0.05m from the outside. The folded metal members / tabs 9 and 9a of the arm at the inner corner are 3mm in width and height. The folded metal members / tabs 9 and 9a are provided to snugly hold the book in place and to prevent folding and tearing of leaves of the reference book, magazines
105 or catalogues. The arms 5 and 5a are fastened to the channel 2 using nuts 8 and 8a and bolts 6 and 6a engaged through holes 3 and 3a respectively.
FIG. 5 shows the office file book fastening device in operation. It can be seen that the arms 5 and 5a have been inserted from the sides of the book's centre portion and fixed using 110 screws and bolts. The book is held in place and the office file book fastening clip is then fastened into the office file through a lace of the lace file or arch of a lever arch clip or the like passed through holes 3 and 3a.
Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been 115 set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, materials used and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
