Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé pour la production biologique de la substance chimique industrielle clé acide méthacrylique et de différents dérivés de celui-ci comprenant le méthacrylate de méthyle. Le procédé comprend l'utilisation de voies biologiques pour produire l'acide mésaconique ou l'acide citraconique ou l'acide citramalique, lesdits acides étant ensuite décarboxylés pour produire de l'acide méthacrylique. Les acides sont sensiblement non toxiques pour les cellules, ce qui permet de réaliser une voie à base biologique viable vers des monomères clés. Par conséquent, l'invention résout potentiellement le problème de l'utilisation de ressources combustibles fossiles en ce qu'elle constitue un procédé alternatif pour former de l'acide méthacrylique.
