Abstract

Apparatus for underground hard rock mining includes a vehicle chassis (12) and a plurality of steerable continuous track assemblies (14). Each track assembly has a pair of first flat ground engaging surfaces and an opposing pair of second flat ground engaging surfaces and can be pivoted about horizontal axis (W), thereby adjusting the height of the chassis above the ground. The apparatus is further provided with extendible means (76) for anchoring against ground and roof of the mining gallery, and with means (62) for first drilling a hole into the rock and a rock breaker (64) for being inserted into the drilled hole for fracturing the rock.
