Abstract
A bend restrictor for longitudinally extensive protection apparatus configured to contain a longitudinally extensive service member, the bend restrictor comprising first and second end sections (110) attachable in fixed relation to the longitudinally extensive protection apparatus, a plurality of intermediate sections (120, 130, 140) arranged between the first and second end sections, a through longitudinal passage (160) extending through the respective end sections and the intermediate sections in which the longitudinally extensive protection apparatus is accommodated; one section of each adjacent pair of said sections including a male longitudinally directed projection (122) which is received in a female recess (132) of the adjacent section of said pair of sections; the male recess including a laterally outer wall (125) which is always at least partially in juxtaposition with a corresponding laterally inner wall (135) of the female recess, each respective outer wall consisting of a portion of the surface of a sphere such that a non-interlocking spherical joint is formed between the said adjacent sections.
