Abstract
Im Betrieb eines mit mindestens zwei Messelektroden (2,3) versehenen kapazitiven Näherungssensors (1) werden eine erste Kapazitätsmessgröße (K1) und eine zweite Kapazitätsmessgröße (K2) erfasst, wobei die erste Kapazitätsmessgröße (K1) mit der Kapazität mindestens einer der Messelektroden (2) gegenüber Masse (M) korreliert ist, während die zweite Kapazitätsmessgröße (K2) mit der Kapazität zwischen mindestens einer der Messelektroden (2) und mindestens einer weiteren Messelektrode (3) korreliert ist. Eine Änderung der ersten Kapazitätsmessgröße (K1) wird dabei gemeinsam mit einem synchronen Signalverlauf der zweiten Kapazitätsmessgröße (K2) ausgewertet, um eine Annäherung eines elektrisch mit Masse gekoppelten Leiters von der Annäherung von dielektrischer Materie zu unterscheiden. Auf diese Weise kann ein in den Detektionsraum (11) des Näherungssensors (1) eindringendes Körperteil von anderen Stoffen und Gegenständen, insbesondere Wasser effektiv unterschieden werden.
