Abstract
This invention relates to a liquid containing means (10) intended for food-grade content and allows drinking without the use of drinking straw. The liquid containing means comprises a containing body (11) made from a pair of identical elongated tapering sheets being sealed around their edges The elongated tapering sheets define a narrower top and a wider base. The narrower top defines a tearable tip (17) over a tearing line (18) provided thereat. The wider base defines a flat floor to allow the liquid containing means to be positioned in an upright form: Another tearing line (20) is provided along the neck portion of the liquid containing means when the containing means is adapted for frozen liquid products.

A LIQUID CONTAINING MEANS
TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention generally relates to containing means but more particularly to a liquid containing means.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The existing means of containing products in liquid state or form includes, among others, pouches, tetrabricks, tubes and sealed cups. They may be made of plastics or carton material having a wax or plastic lining. In these containing means, particularly those intended to contain food-grade liquids, such as, fruit juices, distilled or purified water, milk-based products and energy drinks, a drinking straw is usually required or made available for use in seeping or drawing out their liquid contents. The drawbacks having been experienced with the aforesaid arrangement includes, among others, the accidental loss of the attached drinking straw and the difficulty of piercing the drinking straw through the sealed hole of the packaging means. Furthermore, some liquid containing means, particularly those having the form of a pouch, tend to drop by its side, thereby making them difficult to be arranged in their upright form in the cooling or refrigerating unit or in the display shelves.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
In view of the foregoing, it is one object of this invention to provide a liquid containing means that would not require the use of drinking straw, thereby allowing the drinker to conveniently or easily retrieve or drink its content even when a drinking straw is not available.
Another object of this invention is to provide a liquid containing means wherein its base is made flat to allow it to be in upright form, thereby causing convenience in arranging a number of its kind in the cooling or refrigerating unit or shelves.
These, and other objects or advantages of the present invention for a liquid containing means will be fully discerned or understood and may be readily appreciated after reading the following detailed description made in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWINGS
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the present liquid containing means;
Figure 2 is a sectional view thereof taken along line 2-2 in Figure 1;
Figure 3 is another sectional view taken along line 3-3 in Figure 1 ;
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the present liquid containing means having a flat base;
Figure 5 is a front view of the liquid containing means shown in Fig.4; Figure 6 is a side view of the liquid containing means shown in Figs.4 and 5;
Figure 7 is a top view of the liquid containing means shown in Fig.4;
and
Figure 8 is a bottom view thereof.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Referring to the accompanying drawings, there is shown the liquid containing means generally designated by reference numeral 10. The liquid containing means 10 is defined by a flexible or resilient containing body 11 which resembles a pouch form, and being formed or made from a pair of identifical sheet members 12 being joined along their edges by heat sealing or any conventional sealing process or procedure, thereby forming or leaving a containing means or chamber 13 therein. The sheet member 12 is generally defined or characterized by an elongated tapering form having a narrower top 14 and wider base 15 as shown in Fig. 1. The narrower top 14 which function as the liquid-dispensing portion 6 of the liquid packaging means 10, defines a tearable tip 17 over a tearing or score line 18 provided thereat.
As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the wider base 15 defines a flat floor portion 19 to allow or cause the liquid containing means 10 to be positioned in an upright form.
As the liquid containing means 10 may also be used for frozen beverage or liquid products, such as, the popular ice candy, another tearing or score line 20 may be provided at the neck portion or area thereof as shown in Fig.1. The tearing line 20 would allow exposure of a greater portion of the frozen liquid product to allow the buyer to conveniently enjoy the frozen delight.
The liquid containing means 10 may be made of food-grade material when made or intended for food products. The material includes food-grade plastic or aluminum having food-grade plastic lining. The liquid containing means 10 may assume any form having aesthetic or appearance enhancement features, such as, bottle-like shape, for marketing purposes.
While the invention has been described in connection with the preferred embodiment shown in detail, various modifications and improvements thereon will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art. Accordingly, the spirit and scope of the present invention is not limited by the foregoing description, but is to be understood in the broadest sense allowable by law.
Claims
1. A liquid containing means comprising, a containing body being made from a pair of identical elongated tapering sheets joined along their edges by heat sealing, the elongated tapering sheets defining a narrower top and a wider base, the narrower top having the liquid- dispensing portion being defined thereat, a tearable tip being provided over the tearing line at the narrower top.
2. A liquid containing means according to claim 1 wherein the wider base is defining a flat floor portion to allow the liquid containing means to be positioned in an upright form.
3. A liquid containing means according to claim 1 wherein another tearing line is provided along the neck portion thereof and adapted for frozen liquid product .
4. A liquid containing means according to claim 2 wherein another tearing line is provided along the neck portion thereof and adapted for frozen liquid product.
