Abstract
L'invention concerne un procédé pour former une couverture isolante sur un métal en fusion, un granulat contenant de l'oxyde de silicium étant placé sur la surface du métal en fusion. Selon l'invention, le granulat contient de la terre de diatomées. L'invention porte également sur un granulat contenant de la terre de diatomées, utilisé comme matière de couverture pour un métal en fusion, un procédé de fabrication du granulat à partir de gâteaux de filtration contenant de la terre de diatomées ainsi que l'utilisation d'une matière filtrante contenant, dans la masse sèche, jusqu'à 90 % de terre de diatomées pour la fabrication d'un granulat destiné à la formation d'une couverture isolante sur un métal en fusion.
