Description
METHOD FOR INITIATING MOBILE WEB PAYMENT
The invention relates to a method for initiating mobile WEB payment, in the method a mobile device owned by registered users, installed with applications and operating in mobile phone network and a device applicable to display a WEB platform as well as a remote mobile payment centre and a bank or balance manager are employed.
Hungarian patent application P1200524 teaches a method on the basis of which initiating mobile payment can be performed. With this knowledge several advantageous solutions are feasible. However, communication between the seller and the customer is not sufficiently flexible and connection between the point of sale and the customer cannot be established in a reliable manner through the internet.
The object of the present invention is to provide a method for initiating web payment by means of which the aforementioned shortcomings can be eliminated and which is applicable to establish a reliable connection between the customer and the seller.
It has been realized that a code for authentication of the payment transaction must be generated which is suitable for data transmission through an independent mobile payment centre. During the data transmission the customary bank identification codes are not transmitted thereby the whole transaction becomes safer as the bank identifiers are determined in a later session.
In an advantageous solution of the method according to the preamble the mobile payment is initiated between the mobile device and the WEB platform displaying device in such a manner that in one of the devices a mobile payment identification code is generated and displayed on its own display, then the mobile payment identification code is entered into the other device and transmitted to the mobile payment centre where it is converted into conventional bank card data and transmitted to a bank or balance manager to perform the payment transaction.
The invention will be described with reference to a Figure in which the position of the participants involved in the method is shown.
In Figure 1 a mobile device 1 is shown which may be a mobile phone or any other devices using radiofrequency for example a laptop or a similar apparatus.
This device 1 is owned by the supposed customer. The other party in the method for initiating a mobile payment transaction is the seller who owns device 2 in which a web platform can be displayed. For a payment transaction a code is generated in one of the devices 1 , 2 which is then entered to the system via the other device and transmitted to a mobile payment centre 3 where the transmitted data are converted, i.e. the determined code is converted into data needed for the customary bank transaction. Then the mobile payment centre 3 transmits the converted data to a bank 4 or a balance manager. Bank 4 may be a balance manager which administers points, coupons or other items that can be converted into money and allows or performs payment according to that.
According to the present invention the mobile device 1 is owned by the customer and it typically has a display and optionally a camera which is able to read an image presented on the display of the other device. This image can be the widely used QR code which corresponds to a two-dimensional barcode and it is suitable for storing relatively great amount of data in a small area and can be read reliably.
The two devices are interchangeable: that is either the customer or the seller can display the coded information - preferably presented in QR code - which serves as the basis of the payment transaction and can transmit it to the mobile payment centre 3 for initiating the payment transaction then to a bank 4 or balance manager. According to the method of the invention the mobile payment identification code is a uniquely generated identification code. It can contain various kinds of information for example at least a phone number on the basis of which the customer can be identified. In addition to the phone number there should be a possibility for the customer to verify his identity through a so called mobile PIN code mPIN. During the transaction the customer enters the mobile PIN code mPIN into mobile device 1 to make the transaction valid.
Advantageously, besides the QR code the mobile payment identification code also contains an additional encryption. In this manner safe data transmission can be executed in an environment where data security is not guaranteed because of external circumstances.
Preferably, the mobile payment identification code is generated uniquely either in the device owned by the customer or the seller. To achieve the aim set in
the method the generated code is presented on the built-in display of device 1 , 2 and it is read by the built-in camera of the other device. By means of the installed software it is transmitted to the mobile payment centre 3 then to the bank 4 or the balance manager. In this manner there is no need to enter the commonly required bank identification data for initiating the transaction. Independently of that a valid transaction takes place between the mobile payment centre 3 and bank 4.
In an advantageous solution the mobile payment identification code is generated on the basis of an algorithm contained in the application program installed in the platform displaying device 2 or mobile device 1.
Payment is completed by bank 4 or the balance manager in a manner as described in the aforementioned Hungarian patent application P1200524. This document is considered as part of the present description.
According to the method of the present invention a solution is provided for the customers and sellers through which the required data can be handled reliably and safely. In the advantageous embodiment QR codes are used by which safe payment transaction can be executed with the currently widely used devices.
However, use of an encoding technique other than QR codes is also applicable depending on the a special environment.
