Abstract

La présente invention porte sur une pile à combustible redox comprenant une anode et une cathode séparées par un séparateur non conducteur poreux ; des moyens permettant d'alimenter la région anodique de la pile en un combustible ; des moyens permettant d'alimenter la région cathodique de la pile en oxidant ; des moyens permettant d'assurer un circuit électrique entre l'anode et la cathode ; et une solution catholytique non volatile en communication fluidique avec la cathode, la solution catholytique comprenant un couple redox qui est au moins en partie réduit à la cathode lors du fonctionnement de la pile et au moins en partie régénéré par réaction avec l'oxydant après une telle réaction à la cathode.
