Abstract

A hand guard attachment system (10) for releasably attaching a hand guard (II) to a firearm (F) is disclosed herein. The system includes the hand guard (11) having a proximal end (24) configured to engage a forward end (13) of a receiver (12) of the firearm (F). The system further includes a tensioning assembly (30) configured to interface between the hand guard (11) and the forward end (13) of the firearm (F). The tensioning assembly (30) is further configured to selectively maintain an engaged position between the hand guard (11) and the firearm (F) such that the hand guard (11) is releasably attached to the firearm (F) without interfering with, or requiring removal of, the barrel (14) and/or barrel nut (36) connected to the receiver (12).
