Abstract

A portable alarm system including a mobile terminal and portable alarm device. The mobile terminal includes a first wireless transceiver, a first geographical location detector determining a current geographical location of the terminal, geographical zone data defining a number of predetermined geographical zones, a first zone detector comparing the current geographical location of the terminal to the number of zones to determine a current zone of the terminal, a command communicator for generation and transmission of zone data to the portable alarm device through a paired wireless connection between the alarm device and terminal. The zone data indicates the number of predetermined geographical zones and/or the current geographical zone of the terminal. A portable alarm device includes a second wireless transceiver, zone data received through the second wireless transceiver, an alarm indicator for responding according to an alarm setting selected by an alarm configurator based on the zone data.
