Abstract

The current invention provides for isolated nucleic acid sequences that are involved in providing plant pest resistance. In particular, an isolated nucleic acid sequence is provided that is capable of activating transcription of a plant pest resistance gene. An isolated nucleic acid sequence that encodes a polypeptide for providing plant pest resistance is provided as well. Methods are also provided for providing a plant having resistance against a pest using said isolated nucleic acid sequences. Furthermore, isolated nucleic acid markers are provided for identifying plant pest resistance genes and methods for identifying a plant pest resistance gene are provided as well.
