Abstract

An apparatus (1) for freezing and storage of organic material according to the invention comprises an internal conveyor system for transporting stored portions of material inside the apparatus, an insulated shell (5), a primary door (41) facing the exterior and a secondary door (42) facing the interior. The doors (41,42), which may be provided in a separate door module (4), opens to a limited number of the stored portions, and are arranged so that portions of material can be deposited into or removed from the apparatus only when they are both open at the same time. The primary and secondary doors are coupled such that the when the primary door is opened or closed, the secondary door is also opened or closed in a substantially synchronous manner. The doors may be top -hung swing doors and the primary door preferably opens inwards.
