Abstract

The present invention relates to a dishwasher (1) comprising a body (2), at least one rack (3) wherein items to be washed are placed and a carrier (7) having a frame (4) that is mounted at a position close to the ceiling of the body (2) so as to move forwards/backwards, at least two retainers (5) that extend from the two sides of the frame (4) towards each other and that make active only a portion of the area surrounded by the frame (4) and at least one auxiliary member (6) that allows almost all the area covered by the frame (4) to be used for carrying items by extending between the retainers (5) and that is detachably disposed on the retainers (5).

Description

A DISHWASHER COMPRISING A CARRIER

The present invention relates to a dishwasher comprising a carrier whereon items to be washed are placed.

In dishwashers, carriers disposed at a position close to the ceiling are used in addition to the racks wherein items to be washed are placed in order to provide effective utilization of the dead spaces inside the washing chamber. However, due to these carriers mounted onto the upper rack, long items such as goblets, bottles, etc. may hit the carrier. The carriers used for additional storage areas are stored outside the dishwasher when not in use and this causes difficulty in terms of utilization.

In the state of the art United States of America Patent Application No. US2010155280, a cutlery tray is explained that includes auxiliary parts that can be displaced horizontally and vertically.

The aim of the present invention is the realization of a dishwasher comprising a carrier that provides flexible utilization by increasing the storing area.

The dishwasher of the present invention realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a body, a rack and at least one carrier wherein the objects to be washed are placed, mounted to a movement mechanism oppositely fixed to the ceiling or the side walls of the body so as to move thereon forwards and backwards.

In the dishwasher of the present invention, the mounting of the carrier to the movement mechanism is provided by a frame. Retainers that extend toward each other so that a gap remains therebetween are disposed on the side walls of the frame. An auxiliary member is detachably placed between the opposite retainers. The user first places the items to be washed on the retainers, then, if the utilization area of the retainers is not sufficient, he/she enables the auxiliary member.

In an embodiment of the present invention, by means of the auxiliary member placed onto the retainers, carrying items on almost all the area surrounded by the frame becomes possible.

In an embodiment of the present invention, the carrier comprises the retainers that can be attached to/detached from the frame and that can change position from the horizontal plane to vertical plane or from the vertical plane to horizontal frame by rotating around the wire by which they are mounted to the frame. In cases that the user does not need any utilization area other than the rack, the retainers are kept in the vertical position, thereby long items can be placed onto the rack. Thus, the user can free space over the upper rack by folding or dislodging the retainers.

In an embodiment of the present invention, there is a difference of level between the portion of the auxiliary member over the retainer and the portion thereof between the retainers. Thus, the retainer and the auxiliary member are aligned and placing items on the retainer becomes easier.

In an embodiment of the present invention, the auxiliary member is of perforated structure. Since the items in this area contacts with more clean water, the cleaning performance of the dishwasher increases.

In a derivative of this embodiment, by means of a grasping member that grasps the auxiliary member from the holes thereof, the auxiliary member can be fixed onto the retainer. By means of the grasping member, the fixing operation can be easily performed.

In another derivative of this embodiment, at least one extension that passes through at least one hole of the auxiliary member and provides the auxiliary member to be snap-fittingly seated onto the retainer is disposed on the retainer.

In an embodiment of the present invention, the retainers are mounted onto the hanger member that is mounted onto the frame and that extends downwards from the frame in the vertical plane.

In a derivative of this embodiment, fixing members are used in order to mount the hanger wires to the frame. Thus, both the assembly and the disassembly of the hanger member and the frame are facilitated.

The dishwasher of the present invention comprises a multi-piece carrier that can be used as an additional storage area. Thus, the user can create additional storage areas as per his/her needs and easily store the unnecessary carrier members outside the dishwasher.

The model embodiments relating to the dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention are illustrated in the attached figures, where:

The dishwasher (1) comprises a body (2) and at least one rack (3) wherein items to be washed are placed.

The dishwasher (1) of the present invention comprises a carrier (7) having a frame (4) that is mounted at a position close to the ceiling of the body (2) so as to move forwards/backwards, at least two retainers (5) that extend from the two sides of the frame (4) towards each other and that make active only a portion of the area surrounded by the frame (4) and at least one auxiliary member (6) that is detachably disposed on the two opposite retainers (5) (Figure 1).

When need for additional storage area arises in the dishwasher (1), the user places the auxiliary member (6) onto the two retainers (5) and the items to be washed onto the auxiliary member (6) and the retainers (5). If the racks (3) in the dishwasher (1) meet the need of the user, the auxiliary member (6) is taken out of the dishwasher (1). Dislodgement of the frame (4), which occupies more space than the auxiliary member (6), and storing thereof outside the dishwasher (1) are not necessary by means of the detachable structure of the auxiliary member (6). Thus, the user can place long items into the rack (3) situated below the carrier (7).

In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises the auxiliary member (6) that extends between the retainers (5) and that enables the items to be carried thereon together with the retainers (5) by covering almost all the area surrounded by the frame (4). Thus, the carrier (7) can be used efficiently.

In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises the retainers (5) that can be attached to/detached from the frame (4) or that can be fixed onto the frame (4) so as to be parallel to the side walls of the frame (4) in a folded manner. Thus, in cases that no additional storage area is needed, items can be easily placed into the rack (3).

In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises the auxiliary member (6) that has a graded structure so that when the auxiliary member (6) is placed onto the retainers (5), the portion thereof remaining between the retainers (5) is at the same level with the retainer (5). The graded structure of the auxiliary member (6) provides the item to be in a balanced manner on the carrier (7) in case that some portion of the item to be washed is on the retainer (5) and the other portion is on the auxiliary member (6).

In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises the auxiliary member (6) in form of a grid. Thus, the clean water sprayed from the ceiling of the dishwasher (1) reaches the items in the rack (3) below the carrier (7) and also the clean water sprayed from the spray arm below the rack (3) reaches the items on the carrier (7) (Figure 2).

In a derivative of this embodiment, the carrier (7) comprises at least one grasping member (8) that is situated on the retainer (5) and that provides the auxiliary member (6) to be mounted onto the retainer (5) by grasping the auxiliary member (6). Thus, the auxiliary member (6) can be securely mounted onto the retainers (5) (Figure 4).

In another derivative of this embodiment, the carrier (7) comprises at least one extension (9) that is situated on the retainer (5) and that provides the auxiliary member (6) to be mounted to the retainer (5) by passing through the auxiliary member (6) (Figure 3).

In an embodiment of the present invention, the carrier (7) comprises at least two hanger members (10) that extend from the frame (4) towards the base of the body (2) and the retainers (5) that are detachably placed onto the hanger member (10). Thus, the retainers (5) can be easily placed on the carrier (7) (Figure 6).

In a derivative of this embodiment, the carrier (7) comprises at least one fixing member (11) that is disposed on the frame (4) and that provides each hanger member (10) to be mounted to the frame (4). Thus, the hanger member (10) and the frame (4) are provided to be detachably assembled (Figure 4).

The dishwasher (1) of the present invention comprises a modular carrier (7) that can be used as an additional storage area. Thus, the user can create additional storage areas as per his/her needs and easily store the unnecessary carrier (7) members outside the dishwasher (1).

It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments disclosed above and a person skilled in the art can easily introduce different embodiments. These should be considered within the scope of the protection postulated by the claims of the present invention.

Claims

A dishwasher (1) comprising a body (2) and at least one rack (3) wherein the items to be washed are placed,

characterized by a carrier (7) having

- a frame (4) that is mounted at a position close to the ceiling of the body (2) so as to move forwards/backwards,

- at least two retainers (5) that extend from the two opposite sides of the frame (4) towards each other and that make active only a portion of the area surrounded by the frame (4) and

- at least one auxiliary member (6) that is detachably disposed on the opposite two retainers (5).
A dishwasher (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by the auxiliary member (6) that extends between the retainers (5) and that enables the items to be carried thereon together with the retainers (5) by covering almost all the area surrounded by the frame (4).
A dishwasher (1) as in any one of the above claims, characterized by the retainers (5) that can be attached to/detached from the frame (4) and/or that can be fixed onto the frame (4) so as to be parallel to the side walls of the frame (4) in a folded manner.
A dishwasher (1) as in any one of the above claims, characterized by the auxiliary member (6) that has a graded structure so that when the auxiliary member (6) is placed onto the retainers (5), the portion thereof remaining between the retainers (5) is almost at the same level with the retainer (5).
A dishwasher (1) as in any one of the above claims, characterized by the auxiliary member (6) in form of a grid.
A dishwasher (1) as in Claim 5, characterized by the carrier (7) comprising at least one grasping member (8) that is disposed on the retainer (5) and that provides the auxiliary member (6) to be mounted to the retainer (5) by grasping the auxiliary member (6).
A dishwasher (1) as in Claim 5, characterized by the carrier (7) comprising at least one extension (9) that is disposed on the retainer (5) and that provides the auxiliary member (6) to be mounted to the retainer (5) by passing through the auxiliary member (6).
A dishwasher (1) as in any one of the above claims, characterized by that the carrier (7) comprises at least two hanger members (10) that extend from the frame (4) towards the base of the body (2) and the retainers (5) that are detachably placed onto the hanger member (10).
A dishwasher (1) as in Claim 8, characterized by the carrier (7) comprising at least one fixing member (11) that is disposed on the frame (4) and that provides each hanger member (10) to be mounted to the frame (4).
