Abstract

The invention relates to the use of the compound 3,12-di-O-acetyl-8-O-tigloilingol (hereafter referred to as ELAF) or a pharmacologically active salt thereof in order to promote the proliferation of neural precursors or neural stem cells in culture. The invention also relates to the use of said compound for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition that can be used in the treatment of diseases affecting the central nervous system and associated with neuronal loss.
