Abstract

A description is given of a multiple-edged, in particular two-edged, drilling tool for drilling into solid material, in which the major cutting edge (12), preferably lying ahead of the centre, goes over into a cutting edge (12A) of a thinning (34) lying ahead of the centre. The special feature is that the normal clearance (WNF1) of the major cutting edge (12, 12A) remains substantially the same over the entire length thereof, including the region (12A) of the thinning (24), and preferably lies in the range between 7 and 11°, extremely preferably between 8 and 10°.
