Definitions
- the present invention relates to a toilet specially designed to achieve a saving in the consumption of water that is discharged in the cleaning operations thereof; and where said toilet has application in the field of toilets.
- This object of the invention is intended to control, in an efficient manner, the amount of discharge water required, whether it is desired to evacuate solid waste such as feces, or liquid or semi-liquid waste such as urine, in the latter case being understood as use of a smaller amount of water in the case of solid waste disposal; and all this by means of a simple device perfectly adaptable to the connection elements of the toilets currently used, without occupying a larger space than these, and which allows it to be operated comfortably and at the user's discretion reducing water consumption and, therefore, helping to improve the environment in saving it.
- the operation of a current toilet is based on the feeding of water by gravity from a cistern; which is filled with water from the water supply network; to subsequently produce the discharge of water through a discharge valve that, once activated by the user, directs the water into the toilet bowl; so that the cup is connected to a main discharge duct and this to a siphon, so that the water along with the waste is evacuated to a drain pipe or sewage drain.
- Discharge systems that incorporate two drives associated with the water outlet of the tank, one of them is pressed to start the water outlet, and the other is pressed to stop, at will, the water outlet when the flow is considered of water poured to clean the cup is enough; where said activation must be carried out before the end of the cleaning time normally associated with the activation of the first drive; and where said solution entails the problem related to a deficient evacuation of all the waste, and where additionally, and in a habitual way, the same volume of water is consumed until obtaining the correct evacuation in comparison with a conventional toilet; since the capacity of the cistern is usually exhausted until the entire waste is evacuated.
- Discharge systems that incorporate two drives associated with the water outlet of the tank, where one of them is pressed to start the water outlet of a certain volume, and the other drive is pressed to start a larger volume water outlet that the previous download; that way, at the user's discretion, the volume of water can be chosen between two options depending on the waste to be evacuated; but again, and mainly due to the waste disposal section of the evacuation duct of these, the flow of water poured to clean the cup is insufficient.
- Discharge systems incorporating means that pressurize the discharge water; so that with a smaller amount of water it is possible to sweep the waste from the toilet, but they resort to the use of complex and expensive systems by needing to increase the outlet pressure of the water artificially.
- the water flow is related to the size of the evacuation duct, which is normally sized for the discharge of solid waste such as feces, so the amount of water discharged will generally be the same although there are only liquid wastes in the toilet. In this case there is an obvious expense of discharge water, since the amount of water actually required to evacuate the urine from the toilet is much lower compared to solid waste.
- the present invention relates to a toilet with water saving system, which allows, through a plurality of connected elements and operating in harmony with each other, to evacuate all the existing waste in the toilet itself, regardless of whether they are disposed of solids or liquids, by using the minimum amount of water possible depending on the type of waste to be evacuated.
- the toilet with water saving system proposed by the invention comprises:
- a main discharge duct located next to the first evacuation duct; and an opening and closing valve means interposed between the first evacuation conduit and a second waste evacuation conduit; wherein said second evacuation conduit comprises dimensions smaller than the first evacuation conduit and is intended for the passage of fluids.
- the opening and closing valve means is located between two evacuation ducts, then according to its definition, said valve means can allow the opening or closing of one of the evacuation ducts depending on the type of waste evacuate.
- This technical characteristic allows to solve the aforementioned inconveniences, in the line of saving a large amount of water when it comes to evacuate waste, mainly liquids; since the second evacuation duct it comprises smaller dimensions with respect to the first evacuation duct, and therefore the water necessary to eliminate liquid wastes is considerably reduced, since all the water located in the part corresponding to the siphon of the first evacuation duct does not have to be emptied.
- the main body of the toilet will have a modification in its cross section to allow a better coupling between said opening and closing valve means and the inner wall of the main body.
- said at least one opening and closing valve can take two positions:
- the second evacuation duct then comprises an individual siphon independent of the main discharge duct; so that the overall configuration of the second evacuation conduit is similar to that of the first evacuation conduit; where, after the individual siphon, the wastewater downpipe is preferably disposed to be discharged to the general sewerage network.
- Said, at least one, opening and closing valve means comprises at least one retractable cover located in the vicinity of the second waste disposal duct, where said, at least one, retractable cover can move longitudinally between the first and the second position, and vice versa. That is, the retractable cover allows the passage of solid waste to the first evacuation duct and prevents the passage of liquid waste to the second evacuation duct when it is in the second position, and therefore is collected without causing any impediment to the correct evacuation; and conversely, the retractable cover prevents the passage of solid waste to the first evacuation duct but allows the passage of liquid waste to the second evacuation duct when it is in the first position.
- At least one, opening and closing valve means comprises at least one articulated cover in at least one anchor point located above the first evacuation duct, and comprises at least one axis of rotation; where this solution shows an articulated lid that again prevents or allows the passage of waste into one of the two evacuation ducts, depending on the type of waste to be evacuated.
- both covers are perfectly complementary to each other and that each cover can be arranged in a single toilet; It even contemplates the possibility of arranging the two movements (longitudinal corresponding to the retractable cover, and rotating corresponding to the articulated cover) in a single cover that is capable of turning a certain angle, moving towards a specific point and finally turning (from another axis of rotation) until it is in the First or second position.
- the second option of opening and closing valve means that is, the one comprising at least one articulated cover; the possibility is contemplated that one of the anchor points, of said articulated cover, comprises the second waste disposal duct; so that the manufacture of the toilet object of the invention is simplified by combining both the anchor point and the second evacuation duct in the same area; observing the small size to be achieved of said second evacuation duct, and by which, preferably, liquid waste is evacuated.
- the axis of rotation of said at least one articulated lid is inclined with respect to a horizontal plane of support of the toilet, favoring the evacuation of waste through the second evacuation duct by gravitational action. Since although the opening of the articulated lid is hindered by the variation in the angle of opening of the lid, this inconvenience is accompanied by a substantial improvement in relation to the ease of disposal of liquid waste through the second evacuation duct.
- the first is that the articulated lid is capable of tilting downwards between the first and the second position; and the second possibility is that the articulated lid is capable of tilting upwards between the second and the first position.
- the first embodiment since it is in that where a greater hygiene of solid waste evacuation is guaranteed, since, in the opposite case, the user can be mistaken in preventing the passage of waste into the first conduit of evacuation and there is an unwanted fouling and deposit of the articulated lid when it is again actuated for ascending opening.
- At least one lip is defined at least partially inside the main body covering, partially or totally, the second evacuation duct as an undercut; avoiding the accumulation of liquid waste in the interior walls of the main body of the toilet, in addition to guiding the waste to specific areas of evacuation; allowing the correct sotechado of said, at least one, opening and closing valve means on the inner surface of the main body, when it is located in the first position; either the valve means the retractable cover or the articulated cover.
- the possibility is contemplated that it comprises at least one groove located in the lower part thereof, so that the groove breaks the fluid film and prevents the fluid from sliding down the lip and there are possible accumulations in the lower part of the lip, guaranteeing the evacuation of all liquid waste.
- hermetic band located in the lower part of said lip is also contemplated; configured to avoid the possible leakage of liquid waste to the first evacuation duct with the valve opening and closing means in the first position.
- hermetic band can be an exogenous piece and periodically replaceable by the user.
- a channel is defined peripherally inside the main body allowing the support of said at least one opening and closing valve means, when it is located in the first position; either the valve means the retractable cover or the articulated cover, since the channel allows to guarantee its correct support on the inner surface of the main body.
- the channel comprises at least one elastic band located at the top of it; guaranteeing the tightness of a simple and easy maintenance and replacement.
- At least one, opening and closing valve means comprises at least one hermetic seal located at its perimeter edge; said, at least one, valvular means comprises at least one seal located on one of its major surfaces; which can be replaced from time to time and can be provided by the manufacturer itself or in specialized stores;
- said, at least one, opening and closing valve means comprises lateral vertical extensions, which not only prevent liquid waste from passing into the first evacuation duct, but also help to avoid possible pressure losses when said valve means of opening and closing is in the second position; that is, allowing the passage of solid waste to the first evacuation duct.
- the main body of the toilet comprises an access through the frontal area of the latter, said access being manual and preferably configured for access to the retractable cover; so that the user can access the second evacuation duct through a convenient and simple access.
- said at least one opening and closing valve means comprises means to be activated by the user; whether mechanical means, such as a lever located in the lower area of the toilet, a push button, a pedal, a handle or the like; or even computer media activated from an order executed by the user himself.
- the toilet with water saving system proposed by the invention constitutes an important novelty in toilets intended for saving water; efficiently controlling the amount of discharge water required whether it is desired to evacuate solid or liquid waste; and all this by means of a simple device perfectly adaptable to the connection elements of the toilets currently used, without occupying a larger space than these, and that allows to be operated in a manner comfortable and at will of the user
