Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé pour produire du méthane par mise en culture d'algues et de micro-organismes méthanogènes, ainsi qu'un dispositif servant à la mise en oeuvre de ce procédé. Cette invention est fondée sur un photobioréacteur constitué de deux zones qui produit directement du méthane à partir de lumière solaire et d'un mélange gazeux enrichi en oxygène et dioxyde de carbone. Cette réaction intervient en deux étapes partielles ayant lieu dans deux zones différentes. Au cours de la première partie aérobie, la photosynthèse dans les cellules d'algues permet la synthèse de glycolate évacué par les cellules. Les algues forment un biofilm sur la matière de support. Ce biofilm est alimenté d'une part en substances nutritives au moyen d'un flux liquide continu ou semi-continu et transfère d'autre part le glycolate évacué vers la deuxième zone. Ce compartiment est rendu anaérobie par une membrane imperméable à l'oxygène et renferme des bactéries méthanogènes qui convertissent directement le glycolate introduit en méthane.
