Definitions
- the present invention relates to a backlight device and a display device, and more particularly to a backlight device and a display device including a light source and a light guide rod for guiding light from the light source.
- backlight devices that illuminate a display panel.
- the light source is two-dimensionally (planar) arranged at a position directly below the display panel. Further, in a direct type backlight device, it is difficult to reduce the number of light sources in order to ensure uniformity of illumination light while suppressing an increase in the thickness of the backlight device. For this reason, it is difficult to reduce the weight of the backlight device, and it is difficult to reduce the cost.
- the edge light type backlight device a light guide plate is arranged at a position directly below the display panel, and a light source is arranged around the light guide plate. For this reason, in the edge light type backlight device, the number of light sources can be reduced as compared with the direct type backlight device.
- the light guide plate is usually formed by a single member having an area approximately the same as that of the display panel.
- a plurality of light guide bars are connected to each other.
- a structure in which a light guide is configured so as to be in contact with each other is also known.
- the light guide plate and the light guide body composed of a plurality of light guide bars have the same area as the display panel, and thus it is difficult to reduce the weight of the backlight device. There is a problem. It is also difficult to reduce costs.
- the present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a backlight device and a display device that can be reduced in weight while ensuring the uniformity of illumination light. Is to provide.
- a backlight device is a backlight device disposed on the back side of a display panel, and a plurality of light sources and light from the light sources are incident thereon.
- a plurality of light guide bars that have a light incident surface and guide light from the light source, and the plurality of light guide bars are arranged at a predetermined interval from each other.
- a light emitting processing unit is provided that extends along the direction in which the light rod extends and changes the traveling direction of light from the light source to a direction suitable for external emission.
- the side of the light guide bar is provided on one side of the side opposite to the display panel and the part on the side of the display panel. It is not provided in at least a part of the other.
- the backlight device by providing a plurality of light guide bars for guiding light from the light source, unlike the direct-type backlight device, the light source is directly below the display panel. Since it is not necessary to arrange in the position, the thickness of the backlight device and the display device can be reduced.
- the plurality of light guide bars are arranged at a predetermined interval from each other, thereby reducing the area of the plurality of light guide bars, for example, the area of the display panel. Therefore, the backlight device can be reduced in weight. In addition, the cost of the backlight device can be reduced.
- the uniformity of the illumination light may be reduced if the thickness of the backlight device is reduced.
- the light emission processing portion is provided on one of the side portion of the light guide bar opposite to the display panel and the portion on the display panel side.
- the light guide bar is not provided on at least a part of the other part of the part opposite to the display panel and the part on the display panel side. For this reason, it is possible to control (set) whether light is emitted from the portion of the side of the light guide bar opposite to the display panel or the part on the display panel side.
- the optical path length until the emitted light reaches the display panel (or the optical member) can be controlled. Thereby, since the light radiate
- the light emitting processing portion is provided on a portion of the side surface of the light guide bar opposite to the display panel, and on the side surface of the light guide bar. Of these, it is not provided in at least a part of the portion on the display panel side.
- the light path length until the light emitted from the light guide bar reaches the display panel (or optical member) can be increased, so that the light emitted from the light guide bar can be easily displayed.
- a wide range of panels (or optical members) can be reached. Thereby, it can suppress easily that the uniformity of illumination light falls.

It is not provided in at least a part of the part opposite to the panel, and the light from the light source is emitted from the light guide bar mainly toward the side opposite to the display panel. If comprised in this way, since the light radiate
- an optical member disposed on the display panel side of the light guide bar and a reflection member disposed on the side opposite to the display panel of the light guide bar are further provided, from the light guide bar to the optical member.

If comprised in this way, it can be controlled effectively from which part of the side of a light guide rod the part on the opposite side to a display panel, and the part by the side of a display panel radiate
- the light guide bar is formed in a tapered shape. If comprised in this way, since it can suppress that a light radiate
- the light emitting processing portion is formed in a strip shape having a width substantially the same as the length of one side of the tip surface of the light guide bar. ing. If comprised in this way, the width
- the side surface of the light guide rod may be formed in a dogleg shape when viewed from the side opposite to the light incident surface of the light guide rod.
- the side surface of the light guide rod is formed in a U shape when viewed from the side opposite to the light incident surface of the light guide rod
- the side surface includes a first side surface portion and a first side surface portion.

- the uniformity of the illumination light can be improved.
- a part of light which passes the inside of a light guide rod goes back and forth between adjacent light guide rods via a connection part.
- the amount of light passing through the connecting portion is less than the light passing through the light guide rod. For this reason, as described above, the amount of light absorbed by the clip can be reduced by holding the connecting portion by the clip as compared to the case where the light guide bar is held by the clip. Thereby, the loss of light can be reduced.
- the connecting portion is provided with a protruding portion extending in a direction intersecting with the extending direction of the connecting portion, It is held by a clip.
- intersects the extending direction of a connection part is provided in the connection part, a part of light which passes the inside of a connection part approachs into a protrusion part. Since the light entering the projecting portion is less than the light passing through the connecting portion, holding the projecting portion with the clip reduces the amount of light absorbed by the clip as compared to holding the connecting portion with the clip. The amount can be reduced. Thereby, the loss of light can be further reduced.
- the protruding portion is preferably formed so as to extend in parallel with the extending direction of the light guide rod. If comprised in this way, a protrusion part can be moved (sliding) with respect to a clip in parallel with the direction where a light-guide rod is extended. Thereby, when the light guide bar expands and contracts due to heat, the light guide bar can be prevented from being deformed (for example, the light guide bar is bent).
