Abstract

L'invention porte sur des comprimés polycristallins comprenant un matériau polycristallin dur comprenant des première et seconde régions. La première région comprend une première pluralité de grains de matériau dur ayant une première taille moyenne de grain et une seconde pluralité de grains de matériau dur ayant une seconde taille moyenne de grain plus petite que la première taille moyenne de grain. La première région comprend un matériau catalyseur disposé dans les espaces interstitiels entre les grains de matériau dur collés entre eux. De tels espaces interstitiels entre les grains du matériau dur dans la seconde région sont au moins pratiquement exempts de matériau catalyseur. Dans certains modes de réalisation, la première région comprend une pluralité de nanograins du matériau dur. L'invention porte également sur des éléments de coupage et outils de forage comprenant de tels comprimés polycristallins. L'invention porte également sur des procédés de formation de tels comprimés polycristallins comprenant l'élimination du matériau catalyseur des espaces interstitiels présents à l'intérieur d'une seconde région d'un comprimé polycristallin sans enlever totalement le matériau catalyseur des espaces interstitiels présents à l'intérieur d'une première région du comprimé.
