Abstract

An adaptor (5) is mounted on a wellhead (3) and includes an access port (8) positioned vertically above the wellbore (1), a lateral passage (7), and a port (10) offset from the wellbore and communicating with the wellbore via the lateral passage, on which a conventional Christmas tree (11) is mounted. The Christmas tree is offset from the axis of the wellbore (XI -XI) so that the wellbore can be accessed directly through the access port without disturbing the Christmas tree. The novel assembly allows full bore well intervention without oversized valving.
