Abstract

It is virtually impossible for the crew to right capsized multi-hull yachts on their own without assistance, particularly with relatively large boat sizes. Known methods for this purpose furthermore require a relatively great water depth, which often does not exist in the case of the shallow waterways which are preferably used by multi-hull yachts. The present invention is intended not only to provide safety measures to avoid capsizing, but also to allow capsized multi-hull yachts to be righted even in shallow waterways. This is done by means of a mast which can be pivoted laterally as well as sheet winches which open automatically and can be used, according to the invention, in a combined form for a method for preventing capsizing, and for a method for righting capsized multi-hull yachts.
